It doesn't, but I'm not sure why this kid is transfering, unless he wants to go to a better team, hes avg nearly 15 ppg and 30 mpg.

Umm... could be lots of things. The school, his teammates, girlfriend/boyfriend, family, the coach...
Getting lots of PT doesn’t equate to overall happiness and satisfaction.

They don’t have unlimited free agency in the pros where you can just move from team to team every season. I’m all for paying players and NIL rights. But There needs to be a deterrent for kids just impulsively transferring whenever they like. Roster construction is difficult enough as it is. Players constantly moving from team to team isn’t good for programs and isn’t good for the sport.

This is becoming a bigger and bigger part of coaching. Between graduating seniors, early departures to the pros, and the portal, replacing nearly 50% of your roster annually may become the norm at P5 schools.

Duke and (especially) UK have been doing this for a while, but it will be much more common.

D-1 athletes transfer at about 1/3 of the rate of the general student population.
Only 5 sports, (FB, M&W BB, Hockey, Baseball), you know, the ones with direct connections to pro careers, require the athletes to sit a year. Hmm. Remember, when they say it’s about the student, it’s about the money.

It’s not Capel. It’s the messed up system. They need to not change the one year sit out rule. Covid made so many things more difficult this season and is exacerbating all these transfers. It was so much more challenging to build team chemistry and trust with coaches, and now the NCAA is making it worse on coaches and programs with this poorly-thought-out rule change.
