Players on defense need to be held accountable too.

Can someone explain to me why Diggs has so many games with 1 or 0 tackles?

I don’t understand how a player as good as Fadil’s name doesn’t get called more during the games and his boxscore line is always so empty.

Is he not being used properly? Is the O scheming to take him out of the play ? Is he having a bad year ?

I’m confused.

His brother Fatim had as many tackles as Fadil vs BC …. 1

In his three ACC road games he has a grand total of 4 tackles. So maybe he doesn't like to travel. Since UNLV he has 2 TFLs total in 4 games. He was a factor earlier in the season. The 1st four FBS games he had 6.75 tackles per game. The last four he has 2.75 per game. I don't think it is a coincidence that he was used as a DE earlier and a MLB later. At the very least he should be an OLB. I don't get how we have been using him at all.

I know that the play-calling has to be better. That fact is inarguable. However, the players need to be held accountable for the mishaps on defense. I know that Fran Brown emphasizes that big guys eat little guys and that speed kills. While this is sometimes true, these freak athletes also need to be able to play fundamental football.

While our linebackers are quick and can hit big, have they shown that they understand how to fill running gaps or tackle correctly? Do our big Defensive tackles know how to get off their blocks to fill running lanes? It is like bringing in Usain Bolt to be a CB. While his speed makes sure that he can not get torched by any WR, does he know how to adequately cover a WR? No. That is why it is such a gamble to sometimes bank on just raw athleticism.

There are issues with this on offense, too, especially on the offensive line. While Weatherspoon and Washington are some of the largest human beings I have ever seen, are they good O-linemen? That's for you to decide. I hope that in the upcoming portal and in future recruiting classes, Fran can find not just athletes but some solid football players. I don't believe that an ACC team like Syracuse can continue to take these gambles on athletes all of the time.

Thoughts?
imo play calling has been fine. some ol has its issues. if anything the defense is BAD, EXECUTION, TACKLING, COVERAGE ETC . defense game planning is poor

Diggs is the only person causing havoc on D. Maybe it's not leading to tackles but its creating blocking issues for the oline.

I don't know that he has a home.. Not big enough to be the DE, not fast enough to be the pure LB.

Some of the issue is at the point of attack we too often take the easy way. Sure you can go around a guy, but that creates the GAP as well. Some plays you need to control the blocker and go thru him and thats much harder and more physical.
