Poetry in Moten..

I can’t imagine how he must have felt. God bless him. I even wrote a song about our loss, to the tune of “What becomes of the broken hearted?” (Who has a team that’s now departed.)

He leaves behind a mourning community. I hope he knew how much people loved him when he was alive. I think he did.

Arkansas had won the NC in '94. They were trying to repeat and we had them on the ropes. UCLA ended up winning in '95.

A class act! It had to be about 1991. I don’t think Lawrence was anywhere close to the best recruiting in that class, I think Anthony Harris was the best recruit in that class if I remember? Somebody got hurt, Lawrence Moten went in the game against Florida State I believe and he scored 18 and we won the game in the ACC/Big East challenge. He never gave back The starting position to anybody in four years. He was amazing.

Autry started the season opener, but he only started 28 out of 32 games that year, and he had a DNP in December.

Might have rolled his ankle?

yes, my mind went to my aunt who I knew and my grandfather who I didn't.

No, it was Moten.

The announcers initially indicated that Luke Jackson called it, because he was the one who fell on the ball and was fighting for possession with the Arkansas players, but it was Moten.

Really too bad -- poor ending to a magnificent career. Always felt like that mistake made some in the fanbase view him less favorably, which is unfair IMO.
 
Moten is slightly before my time as a fan but I consider him a giant much like Pearl and DC. So sad for his family, loved ones, and many fans.

He was still a huge fan; I'd see him cheering all the time at games. Would usually sit behind the bench/scorer table. Just an immensely cool dude gone too soon.

he made 1/2 ft's to put it in OT. Lucious JAackson was the emotional 1. i still have never known who called it or didnt. but the whole 2 min is saying it was Lucious Jackson

 
nevermind... i can see moten calling the TO in the video at 20 seconds. quick whistle though. and what a demonstrative way to call the TO. it was almost like the ref was over emphasizing the to call to prove a point.

I always tell people that Moten’s TO might be the thing people remember about that game, but the most amazing forgotten play was what happened right before the infamous time out. Luke Jackson had probably the most memorable steal in SU history, diving and intercepting the inbounds pass by Scotty Thurman. He hugged that ball and went into the fetal position waiting for a whistle. Unfortunately, the one he heard wasn’t for a foul. Arkansas was so stunned by the steal I think they would have just watched the clock run out.

We wouldn’t have even been in a position to win that game without Moten, so he gets a pass. Fate stepped in and resulted in an unfortunate ending. Much like now.

God, I loved the way he played the game. I still can’t believe he’s gone so young.
