Portal is a sheet show

It won't be too much longer before the current model is all the younger fanbase has known. It will be "normal" to them.
Normal does not make it compeling, desirable or something people will invest time and resources in. The demographics of fans is not favorable for growth nor even maintenance in my opinion. It will not effect me in any case, but I am no longer terribly interested in this model.

Obviously, we don't have much money to throw around if we are not closing any deals early in the signing period. I'm getting Jaquan Carlos vibes from our current list of targets. I hope I am wrong but its not looking good so far.

Your opinion does not line up with what is actually happening. College football viewership set a record this season across the board. ESPN networks had their best season since 2011. Younger fans (<34 years old) are especially engaged due to social media, streaming services, and online betting. The interest is there and it's as strong as it has ever been.

Well, it's not a good sign when Fran is targeting West Genny kids.

I almost feel like we need to separate out the Football Recruiting thread with a Football portal thread. Since football has so many players in the portal that we are either interested in or are losing to the portal it would be easier to follow this topic alone. Any thoughts moderators? I know it is all color coded, but the transfers use multiple colors depending on when their original year is. Or maybe just have one color fro all portal possibilities.

Agreed, we could use a separate page just for portal both in and out as well as general convo about the portal. It would make it easier than having everything mixed together

However that does not make it right, in this gentleman definitely has very valid points. In my opinion this current model is definitely not sustainable especially from an integrity standpoint. I say take your garbage gambling not you personally but the masses that are enticed and crush it because that has serious long term deleterious implications on so many levels. If things continue loyalty will die. This is now the time of artificial inflation but eventually it will crumble if continued. Just a reflection

Not sure this has been posted but it's being reported that the Cincinnati QB got $5,000,000 to transfer to Texas Tech. STOP THE INSANITY!

Another QB that is avg much of the time.

Kentucky must have no limit they seem to be all in on everybody.

Does the portal have rules on contracts.. Could teams be like the dodgers and spread it out over years and years even if the player is no longer on the team?

“Can you blame these kids?! When I got my copy of Grey’s Sports Almanac, I became a college sports junkie! Now I don’t leave JoeCollege’s basement for weeks at a time! Mostly because he locked me in.”
