Position Priority explanation please

on the "commit list the number is a scale rating of what importance or need? Thank you anyone? A suggestion for that list might be to give the number of current verbals and the maximum number that are available for the year in terms of what the coaches have determined to be available scholarships. It should be easy enought to maintain the count once established.

If it is known that a player is at the top of SU's recruiting board at say QB, we will indicate that by putting a 1 in this field. The 2nd choice would get a 2, etc.

Right now, for instance, SU has reportedly offered a couple of QBs for the class of 2013 (Collins and Lavaino). If we know Collins is SU's first choice (he probably is), we will indicate this using the field in question.

Others have asked about providing insights into available scholarships. I will look at doing this.

"Steal" is such an ugly word! There are several program insiders on this board. I would think that the admins would use their best judgment when to utilize info they have heard from inside sources and also when it would not be appropriate. Soemtimes info comes from the recruits themselves via various recruitniks. It is not unusual for a player to disclose something like "They told me I was their 1st choice...or even "I'm their 2nd choice right now but if player x goes elsewhere...etc." Personally I do not expect alot of 1st choice, 2nd choice info type of info. Its rare to be both accurate and appropriate to be shared.

Agree with all of this. I expect we will probably use this field more for basketball than football. But if we know SU is targeting someone as their top choice at a position, like say Ishaq Williams, or Jarron Jones, we will indicate that.

Added some functionality so you can change the sort on the recruiting database for football last night. Going to add selection criteria to the header there as well, so you can dynamically change that without having to bail out to the initial page. These changes will all end up on the commits page and on the basketball recruiting pages in the next few days as well.

Note that there is a section in the player profiles reserved for syracusefan.com stories on the players. We hope to have that in place soon as well. As Tom has indicated, he is waiting for revenue from the ads to fund paying writers. I think adding a premium board will help that cause as well.

So a "0" indicates what exactly. Seems to be a whole lot of those 0s on the board. Meaning the position or the player isn't a priority? A few don't seem consistent with need or talent.
