Post Game Notre Dame

I disagree on this take. We were giving effort during the overall season and into this game that deserved booing. Majority of the booing is not personal, it’s fans that expect better from the team. Because they are better than what they’ve shown. Now during football when we are making noise on offense trying to communicate plays is a different story. Fans not showing up and not keeping the players honest should be a bigger indictment to the players and coaches imo.
Booing is always personal!

It was a win, but Syracuse consistently starts games down 15 or 20 points. It has become a theme of the Red era. How do you explain not being prepared for the tip-off in every single game?

Its hard to keep fans engaged when games start like that. I think a lot of people turned off their tv and moved on with their lives.

Yeah, the dumpster fire starts are a major issue.

Completely disagree.

The fans that don't show up are terrible fans.
The fans that show up and have been the same dysfunction week after week, with no end in sight, and with the wagons circling to ensure that fans don't even THINK a head coaching upgrade is coming, are desperate.

The only people in that building not being paid to be there, aside from the walkons, are the fans. They have every right to make it clear they do not believe they got their moneys worth.

Fran Brown would not be here but for the fans, donors, and alumni who said enough is enough and voiced their displeasure in every possible way. The "nice to be here" cheerleading crowd means nothing when it comes to moving the needle.
Fran Brown is not here because fans were booing. That had nothing to do with the decision. Dino did not meet the expectations of the administration in his final year.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with sentiment, attendance, or revenue losses smh

I might not be understanding this correctly, but Troy Nunes was soft in your opinion? A long time ago, but I seem to remember Troy as a kid who made some questionable decisions running around and such, but a tough kid who gave it his all.

Troy Nunes took a lot of hits. Our offensive line for him was generally awful. But as a football player, you don't show the other team that they hurt you so bad that you have to leave the game on consecutive plays. That's the point.

Unless you blew out your knee or your ankle, you just can't leave the game on back-to-back plays early in the game because they tackled you hard.

Jim Brown is a football god, and players like him, Walter Payton, so many other guys, you just don't show the other guy that he hurt you. Not if you're a competitor.

Matt I'm a big fan but Jim Brown and Troy Nunes should never ever ever be mentioned in the same sentence. :) It's like comparing Secretariat to a little kid's pony.

yeah, your posts reflect how great a syracuse fan you are and your name does as well. We love having fans for other schools here. But your act has grown tiresome. It's certainly not sincere and it is at times childish. I have to go now to my other board. Tar heel nation. I am known there as BigOrangefan that also sort of likes the Tar heels.
Getting troll vibes from that poster. He personifies the average cynical CNY poster on facebook. Every response is predictable.

Fans don’t boo their own teams!! They can groan, moan, shout but you don’t boo your own team! Are we animals? I agree with Starling. Sorry, I feel strongly about this.
When fans are paying these kids salaries they have every right to boo if they aren’t giving full effort.
First 10-15 minutes of that game was completely unacceptable and they deserved any booing they got.Why do you think someone is an animal for expecting 100% effort?Im sure Red wasn’t exactly acting like a complete gentleman during his halftime speech.Sorry but I feel strongly about expecting full effort from those who are taking my money.

I really like what Jyare brings to the table but man his free throw shooting is a problem. Most of his misses aren’t even close. They clank off the back of the rim.
This is by far the worse he’s shot at the line in his career. Last year he was around 82% and had 29 misses on 156 attempts. This year he’s already missed 21 on 52 attempts.

I agree. Matt appears to think so.

It was about my reaction to that moment in that game.
Kick Off Classic. National TV.

2nd Q, at 1:08:00 of the tape for the first hit. RJ Anderson comes in for 3rd down and they are forced to punt.

Nunes comes back out on SU's next possession. But my memory was wrong. We don't score, and that was it for the first half.

The second time he went out after a tackle happened on the opening drive of the 2nd half.

That tackle was not as bad as the first, frankly. It was rather routine. That's why I was so upset. The announcers even said so, suggesting maybe he fell on the football.

I used to return punts. I got smashed by the defense numerous times.

It's just like basketball, or boxing. If you let the other guy know that he's tougher than you, that he can hurt you, then you're in for a long afternoon.

Any of you who played sports understands that the person who wins is the person who can impose their will on their opponent. Bully ball wins, in pretty much every sport.

Each time Troy was on the ground he was momentarily too hurt to get up. I'm not sure why that made you angry back then. Maybe he was still feeling the effect of almost getting killed on the
first hit. Did you happen to see the full body weight fall on Nunes on the second hit?

I just strongly disagree with booing your own players. It seems to be the height of poor sportsmanship. I would never boo the Bills either. It’s hurtful. Why do that to a team you support? My brain and heart don’t get it.

HOWEVER, there are many people on this board who feel differently than I do and you are one of them. This is a place where we express our feelings.

I have never been in an argument with anyone on the basketball board lo these many years. It’s kind of exciting.

I absolutely approve of ref booing if they deserve it, and it seems they often do.
