Postgame Thoughts... Clemson

I understand the Buddy thing even though I don't like it.

But I don't understand why he keeps starting the same other 4 players when more times than not we start super slow.

There really isn't any understanding the Buddy thing.

He's like a worse shooting, worse passing, worse ball handling, much shorter, slower, less athletic version of Tyler Lydon. And he's playing 35MPG......at SG. They're both white so I ran with it!

We could also use a Center, but we ain't escaping this albatross as any fixes now or moving forward come at the expense of his minutes. And if that's just lowering them 10 or 15 and using him as a specialist (as he should be and could do VERY well in the role) - it ain't happening.

Can I guess JB is going to let us in the fanbase know Kadary played 29 minutes today and we got killed.
Where Joe only played 25 minutes and was solid.

Can I put that in the ether?
Sounds about right. At this point, I don't care what JB says. It's all Peanuts teacher voice wah wah wah, wah wah wah, at this point.

I kinda wish i could not watch. I think it's like everything else in my life. I absorb suffering.
Oh, believe me- the withdrawal symptoms hit me hard & I did check in here-&-there for an update. But overall, i got the picture fairly quickly and decided my blood pressure couldn’t take the aggravation. Which puts me at what...Level 5- aka “acceptance”, on the stages of grief?

I keep seeing we battled in the second half or it was even. WE WERE DOWN 20 and never once threatened that lead. It’s easy to take the foot off the pedal down 20. It’s easy to score down 20. And never once did we put a stretch together in that second half that even made it look remotely close. The whole second half was cruise control for Clemson.

Teams will continue to treat Buddy like honey to bees. He’ll continue to chuck up shots and we’ll get down big. That’s what we have left for the year. NIT at best.

Play Kadary and Woody. Limit Buddy and Joe and see if you can grow these kids for next year.
So your message is play Woody and play for next year. Got it. That should solve the issues.

Battled they battled like the French military used to.

You really haven’t been paying attention. Continuing to do what we are doing will definitely not solve the problem. And short of ADJW actually doing his job and forcing JAB to retire, getting Joe and Buddy of the floor for at least 20 of their 35+ minutes is a pretty solid start.

RF2044 , any thoughts? Always respect your takes. Not like there is much to say about this one.

Kadary needs to start so we're not down by double digits when he comes into the game.
I'm not disagreeing, because I think JG should come off the bench, but unless we run some kind of offense, it won't really matter who is playing. Our guys don't really seem to know how to set each other up or how to fill lanes. How many times does our ball handler get doubled and doesn't immediately look for the open man? That's pretty basic stuff.
We don't do the basic stuff well enough anymore to win consistently.

If Sidibe is back and healthy (fingers crossed) that will prove to be a huge lift for the team. It is going to take him a few games though to get his feet wet. We need to be able to beat Nc State and see where we are at that point. After this game, I am hopeful Jimmy now recognizes that Kadary is our best all around player and needs to play a majority of the pg mins. We now have a 7 man rotation, let's see what happens.

Sid isn’t a savior, he wasn’t good when he played “healthy”, what’s going to make him score, rebound, and not foul someone every 4 minutes this time around?

Certainly not a savior... but he could be a contributor for sure. Nobody is the savior.

He’s an actual center who gets everyone else back in their natural positions which makes us better defensively.

We getting beat at both PF and center at this level 65% of the time on both ends. Guerrier evolved into a sf, today and against Virginia, because teams know he's our only paint scorer. Dolezaj loses what little rim attack he has off the dribble against contact and hes our big (facepalm). Almost got PG figured out this year, but so much of this team's troubles stem from that. Its like having 4 sg/sfs in dolezaj guerrier griff and buddy, a combo and Kadary. Imo, This has been the problem this year not the play calling. Now that we see Sid, I honestly feel Ajax/Brass should be playing some 4, 10-15 minutes of the time. System over results is the way to go.

I'll just repost what I posted earlier.

It sucks to be told your baby's ugly, but that first half was a joke.

It is completely unacceptable to shoot 3 for whatever in a half. Three field goals???

On top of that, this has become a familiar pattern as we lapse further into Bobby Bowden territory with our geriatric head coach -- our guys getting outhustled, outworked, and out-executed by a generally mediocre set of opposing players. And before anyone charges in to inform me that Clemson was ranked #12 earlier this year -- I already know, but it doesn't matter -- because it isn't just Clemson. It's Pitt, it's Rutgers, and it is becoming common place. It is flat out absurd to let the opposition get any uncontested shot that they want -- and knock down wide open shot after shot -- when our group of top 100 ranked players can't even get open looks and settles for iso-ball bad shot after bad shot.

We've become horrifically one dimensional on offense -- and for an entire offense predicated around three point shooting, we're starting a backcourt that has the dubious, dichotomous distinction of taking the most shots but shooting the worst % from deep. We are so unathletic, and the guys who aren't are parked on the bench.

Anyone who watched that first half and believes that the right succession plan post-Boeheim is to promote someone from within the program is certifiably nuts. We need a clean break, an infusion of new ideas, and the adoption of a more contemporary style of play on BOTH ends of the floor.

Nothing will change until there is a complete break, a new approach is in place, and our players are actually coached how to execute half court offensive sets.

Oh, and can the new coach throw in a defensive adjustment once in awhile?

And this is coming from a huge, life long Boeheim fan. You won't find anybody who is more appreciative of his accomplishments than me, but we are past time. The game has passed him by, the program has gotten stale, and it's time for him to go.

End of rant.

Joe is so much better when he’s in attack mode. Buddy has no attack mode. Buddy should come off the bench. Joe actually got in the lane in the second half. We need to keep our bigs out of the high post to open up the floor. Most of the time they’re just in the way. None of the bigs will or make 15-18 foot jumpers so our guards are smothered.

Haha, I didn't see where I said he was a savior. Would you rather not have our starting center back and healthy? At the end of last season Sidibe was playing good basketball.

Who is a better defender in the zone Alan or Buddy?
