I'll just repost what I posted earlier.
It sucks to be told your baby's ugly, but that first half was a joke.
It is completely unacceptable to shoot 3 for whatever in a half. Three field goals???
On top of that, this has become a familiar pattern as we lapse further into Bobby Bowden territory with our geriatric head coach -- our guys getting outhustled, outworked, and out-executed by a generally mediocre set of opposing players. And before anyone charges in to inform me that Clemson was ranked #12 earlier this year -- I already know, but it doesn't matter -- because it isn't just Clemson. It's Pitt, it's Rutgers, and it is becoming common place. It is flat out absurd to let the opposition get any uncontested shot that they want -- and knock down wide open shot after shot -- when our group of top 100 ranked players can't even get open looks and settles for iso-ball bad shot after bad shot.
We've become horrifically one dimensional on offense -- and for an entire offense predicated around three point shooting, we're starting a backcourt that has the dubious, dichotomous distinction of taking the most shots but shooting the worst % from deep. We are so unathletic, and the guys who aren't are parked on the bench.
Anyone who watched that first half and believes that the right succession plan post-Boeheim is to promote someone from within the program is certifiably nuts. We need a clean break, an infusion of new ideas, and the adoption of a more contemporary style of play on BOTH ends of the floor.
Nothing will change until there is a complete break, a new approach is in place, and our players are actually coached how to execute half court offensive sets.
Oh, and can the new coach throw in a defensive adjustment once in awhile?
And this is coming from a huge, life long Boeheim fan. You won't find anybody who is more appreciative of his accomplishments than me, but we are past time. The game has passed him by, the program has gotten stale, and it's time for him to go.
End of rant.
