Postgame Thoughts... Clemson

and your big is out of position most of the time (and fumbles passes others).
There was one play, I can't remember when exactly, 2nd half I think, Judah drove in and Jesse was in the paint doubled by Clemson's two bigs. Judah got to near the basket, but didn't have a good look so, in mid-air, he threw a 85 mph fastball to Jesse's face. Needless to say Jesse was not expecting the pass and Clemson took it the other way.

There's a lot wrong with the offense and has been. Letting your skilled basketball players make a basketball play is attractive in some ways, but I've seen YMCA pick up games with more teamwork.

I also think that we're seeing other teams putting some effort in against Maliq too, not a lot, not like he's being doubled, but they're definitely keeping a body on him more. He needs to make an adjustment.

I admit, I turned it off at half. First time I havent even bothered to check in on the score.

That sums it up well. I've never stopped watching SU Football so I can't imagine not watching basketball, but it does feel more like an obligation now.

I've stopped watching most of the hoops games so far in '23.
Made an exception for the Dook game - yay!
that was a great idea!

I'll follow the score on the ESPN phone app whilst Mrs 721 and I watch whatever we're streaming du jour on TV.

This is coming from a guy who used to schedule around being able to watch EVERY Syracuse hoops game.

ie: my wife was livid that I was watching Cuse vs. UVA on Easter while her family was at our house for dinner.
I can see those jamokes anytime - but when do I get to watch an epic Cuse comeback W like that??!! ;)

If SU hoops is on, and I'm home and have nothing else going on, I'll put it on, because why not. I've definitely flipped to other things mid-game this season. I was doing a full re-watch of Game of Thrones for a couple months this winter and there were times it was far more entertaining to watch dragons and beheadings than SU basketball.

But if there is anything better to do, there's no reason to watch our games. Last night I went to a college lacrosse game in the cold rain. It was easily the better choice.

Don't blame you at all. I had the game on last night, but I found myself focusing on the internet and pretty much anything else once it got to like 31-16 in the first half.

He was fired up and emotional after he set up Girard for that 3 on a fast break. I've seen the same in the past when he's had nice passes. I don't think he's purely playing for himself but I wouldn't blame him at this point either. He was pretty fired up beating NC State a week ago.

The reality is it's hard to get assists when other guys don't get open, some are just standing there due to lack of scheme, and your big is out of position most of the time (and fumbles passes others).

Judah, of course, isn't a pass first PG and nobody ever claimed he was. I think he's gotten better at setting up teammates but he's not exactly in a great situation here either. At this point, I don't blame him for showcasing his game for the next level. What's the point?
Frankly I don’t really care what his motivations are….he plays hard every game, and he’s often our only guy who looks like he belongs on the floor against good teams.

I’ve missed the last 3 games. NC state and Duke because I wasn’t home and had other things to do.

Last night I was literally sitting on my couch doing nothing but watching Hulu and posting in the game thread….but I decided since this season is now so pointless, there’s nothing on TV worth watching for me right now and canceled my YouTubeTV for the upcoming months. I’m not paying $64.95 or whatever to watch these games.

Who’s his replacement?
First things first: He has to go.
Then...my preference is a national search for an up-and-coming HC, someone worthy of earning a shot at a top 10 gig like Syracuse. I've moved past the current assistants and would really like a refresh from the JB era.
It's been real...but Father Time is undefeated.
