A few thoughts:
-Was excited to see what Judah brought. Kid has swag and confidence to burn and shook off the missed layup. Unlike in the exhibition games he didn't force shots and looked to get his teammates the ball. Great handle and the left off the glass was nice. Not an instinctive passer yet as he has been a scorer and a 2 his whole life.
-Jesse woke up after 2 indifferent exhibition games.
-JG3 took some bad shots but it is clear he is better at the 2 when he is not asked to run the point, which is something he cannot do at a high level. When he takes good, open shots he is a weapon at the 2.
-Symir was a revelation. When he played with Mintz the defense from the guards was so far above anything we have seen in a couple of years. Symir played with confidence and leadership and was all over the place.
-I loved what I saw out of Hima. Jumped with a purpose and can make a layup, which serious Cuse fans will never take for granted from our bigs. So much better than expected.
-Bell does have a nice stroke and I liked how he went to the hoop on that fast break. Sadly the scouting reports we had on his all around play were accurate, and JB rightfully yanked him for watching a loose ball with an indifference that would have made Buddy blush.
-I'm not panicking like most are on Benny. He was not good last night but he was solid in the exhibition games. He was tight after missing the bunny when he got fouled and missed the two free throws. He needs to go to the basket and forget about fallaways.
-I like Taylor but I'd rather he went to the hoop as opposed to settling for off balance jumpers. He also struggled in the zone. But he is tough and will board and battle for loose balls.
-JB was falling in love with Brown before our eyes. He will see time although I worry his lack of athleticism may limit him at times. But he will be a valuable ACC player for us.
-Last, it was amazing how much more athletic and quicker we looked. The ceiling is higher than last year's team because we will score some easy baskets and will be better defensively.
