Practice Facility

So if they are renovating the locker rooms and weight room at Manley for the fball team and they build this, does that mean they have to walk outside after practice over to Manley to shower, use weight room, use offices? I hope they incorporate all this stuff in one building so it becomes their "haven". Kinda like the bball team uses the Melo center.

And where will the track team practice and compete? Thats the only rubber track on campus I believe

I really like it. It is exactly what is needed. From some of those photos it does kinda look like the Jets practice facility. This would be a MAJOR upgrade and drastically help recruiting.

I say we exceed every single program out there...this would make THREE indoor fields

Exactly right...the BIG game and practice facility...the brand new practice facility...and the homey practice facility.

Penn state's facility is not a fair comparison. It is probably one of the better ones ive seen

And some are actually complaining -- its an indoor practice facility. Its supposed to be practical. Many of them look like airplane hangars. This would be HUGE for recruiting if it happens.

Amazing isn't it? If the outside look of this facility makes one complain, it's very likely that nothing can, nor ever will, make one happy.

It looks perfect.

The light is at the end of the tunnel. I like it. The only question I have is the 65' of clearance to the roof supports enough to allow us to practice our "booming" punt practice?

My only complaint is they didn't crowdsource it through this board first, since everyone who posts here is an expert in architecture, uniform design, marketing, journalism, urban planning, and running a collegiate athletic department.

(This looks great. Is this going to happen? Please please please make this happen.)

No major complaints here. As long as they put in a decent underground concourse connecting Manley with the practice facility I'll be content.

If you read the description, it sound like they are trying to unit all the buildings in the "middle campus" area. It seems as if they are using the same architecture as the " Melo Center".

The facility would be right over that brand-new turf field they put in last year. I'm assuming that's part of the facility.

I wonder if they can roll it up and store it, or if they'd just work over it.

While I'm excited about a new building for the football program, people are putting WAAAAYYY too much time into saying this will put SU over the hump recruiting wise. People should be more concerned/intrigued about what the improvements to Manley are going to be. Players spend all day in the facility and only a few practices in an indoor practice facility.

Sprucing up the football offices/locker rooms/players lounge etc have more of an effect on recruits than indoor practice facilities.

A new facility, especially one that looks nice, will help recruiting. I agree it won't be as big as some may be thinging. The Melo Center was huge for recruiting, but basketball is different from football.

Also, does anyone thing McNabb is/has making/made a significant contribution? With him being on the side and all.

This looks great, although I thought the plan was to have a football only manly football wing (football only weight room, lounge, lockers, film rooms etc?)

Something in my gut is telling me this isn't it. I had a chance a few months ago to speak with an engineer on this project. So much of what I've been told is contradicted by those pictures.

My guess is these were simply design exercises or possibly one of the multiple design bids submitted for this project. I just don't think this is the finalized design.

If we were to get something like this and people were to complain I say you are a huge contributor to the state of the program. However we will rise above your complaining. We already know the deal, old antiquated and fibrotic. Very hard to break up scar tissue, sometimes it has to be surgically removed. Nothing to do with age, just mindset. I expect it pervades every area of your thinking. I do have to say there are a huge number of posters who are quite optimistic about the future, we need that in order to survive. I would also like to thank the admins on the board who are diehard fans and their desire to be objective is appreciated.

Exactly!

Heck, just be glad SU officials are not opting for something like this:

I like the looks of it myself. It would be nice to actually see groundbreaking for this real soon.
texas has something that looks like that as well. i would say the su practice facility looks to be a big upgrade compared to The Bubble
