Practice Facility

I'm just catching up on the board... been away for most of the past week...

I want every single person who complained in this thread to be banned.

Nay, I DEMAND they be banned.

What is wrong with you idiots?!

For starters, ITS A HUGELY NEEDED A LONG OVERDUE FACILITY.

Second, its not a "box", it's a ing translucent glass "box". What's more ing distinctive than that?!

ing unreal.

I assume if you are going out to do fundraising, you need to have plans to show investors. Perhaps that's why they were created, rather than something that was created after enough funding was secured?

Well said.

This one seems very, very unlikely. I doubt we are going to move numerous fields, and this definitely didn't include the Melo center. It also removes the bus stops which also seems strange.

Here's the news out of that one.

"toward the anticipated 2015 achievement of the new Lampe Athletics Complex vision".

There is a master plan kicking around, and these are design submissions from various firms.

It's not the end of the world. They don't have enough money to do both, and decided to work on the Manley upgrades first. Rational decision. They have plenty of quality facilites to practice at between the Dome, Manley, and the outdoor fields. It's not an immediate need.

At the end of the day SU as a private university does not have unlimited resources for capital projects.

The move to the ACC will be about an annual $8M($4M to 12M) bump in revenue just from the conference TV contract, and I'd that doesn't take into account increases in ticket and merchandise revenue.

"Beattie said the project is not currently moving forward because officials in the athletic department changed their priorities from raising enough money to construct a new facility to focusing on improving the existing Manley Field House building instead. Some of the renovations to Manley would include updating the locker rooms, he said."

Updating Manley is much more important than an indoor practice facility right now. I'm glad the AD made this a priority over an indoor practice facility. Let's not forget about our current indoor facility which is the biggest in the nation - The Carrier Dome.

Agreed. That being said, the AD offices need to do a better job fund raising. And we are supporters of the program need to do a better job as well.

That is really depressing to read. Just get the freaking practice facility done.
reading between the lines i believe that a new practice facility is now toast. all efforts will be manley

I didn't get that at all.

Order of operations would put Manley and Locker rooms ahead of the new enclosed facility based on importance and costs associated with it. I'd imagive both Manley and locker rooms can be done for =/>what the stand alone new facility will cost. Also, the Manley renovation helps more than just the football team so it's an easier sell.

Where do you get that from?
that no one from su comments on the planning unless there is "leak"somewhere, and then they do not elaborate----no one from su puts any statement out about anything facility related, why do other universities announce expansion/facility upgrades--and su says nothing other than a poster reporting renovation. su did announce the original manley renovation. i now believe that the focus is entirely on manley. it would be interesting to see the visionary plans regarding it, maybe we would be pleasantly surprised. but they also did not announce the melo center until funding was in place
