Many are quick to comment that JB didn't (and should have) seen it all coming, and is somehow culpable in the team's problems, but without the facts (which we will likely never get) we cannot say.
Sure we can speculate and if I must I'd bet, at least in the Fab case, that JB knew what was happening from (almost) the start and did what he could within the NCAA rules - pushing as hard as he could for the best possible outcome. He, Fab, Cantor, the professors, NCAA, et al, probably talked about it for weeks and when there was no way out, he was pulled. (In case you can't tell, I am speculating that this ineligibility is very much related to the previous one)
It's not like the NCAA showed up at Boeheim's door with a gun and a warrant and took Fab away, leaving JB with a dazed look on his face. He had plenty of warning this was coming.
