Press Conference on now

When JB made that subtle change of bringing in Rak to back up Melo, we all assumed it was because BMK had been playing like warmed-over dirt. Also, CJ started at PF for a few games, maybe to facilitate the substitution pattern to fit in Rak.
I'm more convinced than ever they thought something might go down.
The University could have simply informed JB that they were reviewing his eligibility, and then JB could have learned from any number of people that his chances weren't good.

Reality is often much more logical than the theories on this board.

Has SU ever reversed a decision like this in the past?

Could his reinstatement have been tied into his midterm grades?
yes, but in the opposite direction. Devo was finished in 2009 - out the door for good, but somehow managed to worm his way back in (with a lot of help from JB)

We have no idea what Melo's situation was, but it is reasonable to assume that he was reinstated with conditions, and that he has failed to meet them.

Yes...and once JB had an inkling something might be up, he then started making those moves.
If Rak started every game at PF, why shift him to the 5-hole this late in the season? Sure BMK was playing badly, but he was still an adequate back-up to Melo. And why start CJ at the 4 when he was doing just fine coming off the bench for Rak?
Seems logical to assume that he was aware there might be an issue.

The NCAA said it was SU's decision.

NCAA says it was SU's decision.

And down in New Jersey this is how [some] Rutgers fans are seeing it:

"A preemptive move by Syracuse prior to a full fledged NCAA investigation...."

No doubt Mike Rice and Kyle Flood are happy to see that narrative being floated as well. All the more reason for SU's administration to go one the offensive and get their story out there.

and you thought his remark that "we thought this could happen" was smart...unfortunately it was plain stupid...and Ottomets, What...this is a forum of opinion.
Based on Scoop's comment, did the team have knowledge that Fab continued to do something wrong; or perhaps should not have been cleared originally. Guess you missed that interpretation?

Putting aside the fact that I cannot fathom how someone would consider that a stupid comment by Scoop, this is just another example of you going out of your way to take a gratuitous shot at Scoop (who is a heck of a credit to the University).

We get it. You strongly dislike this college student. You've been telling everyone so for the entirety of your time on this board.

You note, rightly, that this is a "forum of opinion." It is. It's a forum for basketball opinions, not opinions expressing irrational personal disdain for members of the team.

Your take was wrong and your decision to share it was uncouth.

And we're in no position to be taking risks with the NCAA at this particular point in time.
