Proud... tale of 2 seasons

There's a lot to that. This season really isn't about how we do against Florida State. It's a lot more about how we do against Pitt and BC.
Yep. And in that spirit, I hope we approach the game with a "nothing to lose" attitude (rather than a "keep it close" one). As McNabb reportedly advised Hunt, play loose and have fun like you did in high school.

I watched the BC-FSU game, I am hoping for a similar performance. We could do the same things BC did. Smash mouth football with Rome and Morris and run its right down their throats in 2 TE sets. No east-west stuff that won't work. All north-south with Smith. Don't turn the ball over and we will keep it respectable. I really can't see us passing for 100 yards. I don't see how anyone gets open. I'd like to see some short stuff over the middle, but just really keep it simple. Rome inside the tackles at least twice a drive.

Defensively I say it. If we're going to go down let's go down fighting. Let's see how far we have come, and just how good our defense really is. Use some exotic blitzes like we did against Geno and Teddy last year.

FSU is due for a let down game. They can't keep steam rolling teams. They finally got to #2 in the BCS and have a spot basically locked down just as long as they win. I would like to see a result similar to BC, and feel it is attainable.

We're third in our division behind the two best teams in the conference (top-10 nationally) with a new coaching staff that came in at the last minute. Yes there were letdowns but every team outside of Alabama, FSU, OSU, Baylor, Fresno St. and N. Illinois has had major letdowns this year.

Most importantly, won't slip back into to Robinson-era irrelevancy. This season was critical for that reason alone. Finishing behind FSU and Clemson every year is a pretty good and attainable goal long-term.

Short-term goals of finishing just behind them is a "goal" that is expected IMO. We don't have the talent nor the coaches to match up yet with the heavyweights, but we can begin to close that gaping gap in 5 years if we continue winning 7-8 games/season and getting some additional bowl revenue.

Long-term goals include competing for those top 2 spots in our division. We do not and should not be a middling team for our whole existence in the ACC. This is an extension of my 1st paragraph above.

We may catch FSU looking ahead to Idaho.
We need to go all Stanford on them.

We all know the talent is not comparable. We don't know yet what we have from a coaching standpoint. Get back to me on that when we have the talent FSU has.

I said after the Georgia Tech game honestly losing a blowout is the same as losing a 1 point game. I get the close loss looks better aesthetically and for recruiting. However, that is assuming kids will de-commit or not commit to your school based on 1 or 2 complete blowouts even if your a decent team. I don't think kids commit to schools based one or two completely bad games. If were are going to lose I don't care bottom line even though I would prefer to see us competitive.

This team has shown a lot of heart and while I don't\like the passing game I am patience with the OC because I think he can recruit and upgrade the talent at QB and WR which is where we are struggling now. If we finish 7-5, 5-3 this season then recruiting honestly should pickup as 3 bowls in 4 years and selling the kids on playing in a Dome in a good conference should work. With a bowl game appearance this year honestly I think the stink of the Grob Era will be gone and we will be back to the end days of the Coach P era where we were mediocre and plucky and needed an upgrade at talent which this coaching staff should be able to do unlike the end of Coach P era because of the upgrades in facilities we will have.

Even though WF and Maryland aren't the best of the world, I'm proud of the team and staff for stepping up to the challenge after the GT woodshed beating. They could've easily lost those 2 games and be 3-6 (1-4), but they peeled off two gritty wins instead to sit at 5-4 (3-2) and keep their bowl hopes alive. Give me back that damn Penn St game.

And another thing, please please please do not start saying that the sky is falling after the FSU game. This is a case of David vs Goliath, and 99% of the time we will get smoked in this exact matchup. Let's just hope we don't completely embarrass ourselves and come out relatively injury-free.

We still have a legit shot at 7-5 (5-3), which is pretty damn good in our 1st ACC season especially after all of the studs we lost last year.

Keep the faith.

BUMP, good lord. Sky isn't falling folks. Let's focus our energy towards a kid like Julian Whigham. Poor dude.
