Punting was still dumb

We were winning, we were on our 35, and Sean Tucker was on the sidelines. We. Need. To. Stop. This. Bullcrap.

This game had a lot of bad calls; the punt wasn't one of them.
Yep - you can dislike it all you want (I'm looking at you skurey ), but given field position, game situation, etc., it was absolutely the right call. Not defending HCDB's overall decision-making. There have been a lot of head-scratchers. Not this one.

You can disagree all you want.

But you'd be wrong.

Punt was right call. Third down is where our anger should be directed.

Can I just say that on any play with inches to gain, I hate putting the QB 4 yards back where he hands the ball off to a back, giving the DLine time to penetrate when a QB sneak would work so much easier.

Yeah I am enjoying the win. Someone else had it right, 99 out of 100 coaches punt there at the 35 yard line. Some of you all are going a bit over the top here about that. The biggest coaching issue I saw was in the 4th qrtr when our OC was unable to adjust play calling to the stacked looks.

99% of coaches are wrong. I watch them screw up these decisions every Saturday and Sunday. I have to believe the math works out more in our favor if we go for it there instead of punting.

The guy that went for it on 4th down lost. Good night.
Completely different situations.

Second worse decision of the game was punting on fourth needing a foot after liberty JUST scored. Game feel was obvious except to our coach I guess.

The worst decision was going for it in a tie game on fourth and goal. Why? If you are confident your D can stop us (they should be) then you should be confident to do that after you go up 3 aka TAKE THE LEAD and kick it off. Made absolutely no sense.

Both were so terrible. I don’t get it.

Football strategy nowadays is less about shutting down opposing QBs, but rather keeping them off the field. The rules are more in favor of the offense so it's harder to get stops consistency.

Ironically it did work out for SU thanks to two defensive stops later, but I wouldn't trust this decision making to work over time. I would like to see Dino go for it in those situations more often again.

I think the dumb call was the play call on 3rd down to not go off the left side of the line, who got good push all night.
Handing the ball off to Adams who just came in the game was the bad call. Garrett should have kept the ball, Adams isn't a power runner.

Far be it for me to defend Dino, as I think he’s been pretty bad, but he was fine last night.

Made the decision to start Shrader. Had the team ready to play.

OL is an issue with snaps and penalties.

He didn’t have any egregiously bad decisions.

Punting at our own 35 was not a bad decision. ..Especially considering we apparently can’t put Shrader under center for some reason.

I’d have no issue if he went for it either, as you could feel our defense was winded in the moment. That said, they had been playing lights out all game, and I’m sure y’all thought Liberty would score a go ahead TD, which they never did.

He trusted the defense, instead of gambling at our own 35, and was justified in doing so.
