Purdue Home and Home Series 2022 and 2023

Perfect series. They won’t have Brohm by that time. If he is good he will be at a better job.
Purdue is a team we should expect atleast a split with and a chance to sweep.

That was horrifying.

Amazing that we could win a share of the BE title, blow out BC away and play Florida State to the wire, but get hammered by 40-50 points by Purdue and Georgia Tech. Classic Coach P era stuff.
It was a Sunday opener on national TV.
Joe Fields started the opener. We went 3 and out. Kyle Orton drove them down and the rout was on.

Embrassing performance.

I bet they are saying the same thing about babers/us.
I am sure they are. Except Babers is 57 and Brohm is 47.

Dino would leave for an elite job but he wouldn’t leave for another rebuilt.
Brohm would. Plus Brohm is the de facto HCIW at Louisville when Petrino leaves.

I remember that 04 game so vividly. Labor day weekend, ABC national game, some excitement after a 6-6 year and blowing out ND at the Dome. Then kickoff happened, ABC kept showing that stupid train and drum, my dad kept turning the channel when the blow out was on saying we were done watching but then would immediately flip back to see another Purdue score and that was all she wrote for coach P.

I also remember my dad saying he was gonna be shocked if P made it all season that year.

The thing I do not remember is why that was a 1 game deal just at Purdue. I know we did that at Mizzou a in 2012 but Syracuse was still a decent to pretty good football name in 2004 so I have no idea why would do a one game road series.

Purdue won't put butts in the seats, but I can't think of anyone weaker who'd draw better, I can think of a lot of worse options, and it's an OK roadtrip.

Bad Joe Fields flashbacks, though.

Here is what happened.
Cincinnati was supposed to play at Purdue that week.
Cincinnati agreed to play at Syracuse and give us a home game.
Syracuse had to take Cincinnati’s spot at Purdue.
When Virginia Tech/Miami left it left the conference schedule with 2 less games.
So Syracuse added at Purdue and Cincinnati at home in 1 game series as replacements.

Just wish this would be in a state we recruit more heavily

I guess this works and its been long enough since the aforementioned game. When was the first game in that series or was 04 opener actually a 1 off road game?

Still bummed about Wiscy I get that overloads the schedule but with our offense and style of play that is probably the easiest big name to beat since they run the ball so much.

Yeah, we're not really recruiting Chicago at this point. It would be better if we were.
Maybe itll cause an uptick. Lot of talent in that areA.

I believe Brent Musburger was calling the game and introduced Fields as a highly-touted freshman that PP was expecting great things. Then the first pass was thrown into the turf. I don't remember many SU plays, but I'll always remember that one.

Well Rutgers in weaker and is closer, so they would probably draw more. But, already have a home and home with them, right?

It’s funny, a buddy of mine from Purdue texted me yesterday and said there was speculation all over their message boards that they had signed a home and home with an ACC team... they did the math and boiled it down to like 4 options, including Syracuse obviously, and that Purdue would announce tomorrow. I told him I would hop on here and see if there was any posts or speculation/whispers about this... there was nothing. I told him it likely wasn’t Syracuse since there was literally no discussion about it:rolling:. I’m pumped, I know a bunch of Purdue fans and will likely be at the away game repping hard for the Orange!

Am I remembering correctly that Fields turned out to be a decent Defensive back?

Yep, among that Kansas/Indiana/Rutgers/Purdue/Illinois/Baylor/Texas Tech crowd, I think we've got the most attractive opponents.

Now there's a backhanded compliment.

They still owe us one home game. Actually, for the gift we gave them, maybe they owe us 2.

Perfect P5 to schedule though. Good job.
