Class of 2014 QB Alin Edouard (FL) to Garden City CC/Commits to Jackson State/Returns to JUCO/Joining Coach Acosta's Coaching Staff Del Valle HS

I haven't forgotten them--I just think that they've been recruited over. But bottom line: may the best QB win. I couldn't care less which on of them rises to the top, provided that one of them does. We need a dynamic playmaker.

Having an impact QB masks a lot of sins.
Agreed. Think of the depth we might have. Best in years.

Alin had to have seen the last game and saw how obvious it was that he has a legitimate shot at early playing time. Sure, he has to beat out AJ and the two freshmen, but he's probably convinced he can beat out Hunt. Plus, I'm sure the coaches have put early playing time into his ear quit often.
Absolutely.

I was pretty well convinced earlier in the year that we were going to be solid at QB for three years with Hunt under center.

After the last three games, I wouldn't remotely be surprised if we had a true frosh taking the reins next season.
I thought the same about Hunt, but a lot of the time he is running for his life out there. We really need to get some highly recruited OL too. That sure makes a difference on your passing game, just ask AJ McCarron.

I would not underestimate McDonald.

Imagine the loss of AJ on signing day without Edouard (Do we dare refer to him as AE, I think not!), enjoy the moment! How nice is it to have 2 of the top 10 DT/QBs committed here. What a nice surprise after such a thumping. If the GT game proved one thing, you have to have talent to win games, and by God this group is trying there best to get it here. This is already the best class we have had here since the 90's, IMO. I expect more to come, this is GM time...

You can't really judge an offense until you have all the parts, same with defense. A great emphasis for this class has been DB's, LB's, QB's, and WR's which shows the staff feels we need to upgrade those positions. Speed and size have been recruited for these positions to compete in the ACC.

Agreed Bob.

Listen Doug brought us back from the depths of hell. Left us with what I would bet is a 8-9 win BE Team. Problem is we moved to ACC. I think its partly the reason he left knowing that the team he recruited was not suited for the ACC. Bottom line for all the belly aching on this board it appears the coaches are recruiting higher speed guys and different skills than what is needed in BE. I will wait til 3 years to make a judgement but I can tell you that if this whole staff is dismantled at that time it will have more players suited for the ACC than we had this year.

plus, i expect gmac to grow. remember, hackett sucked it up for a few years too. coaches can grow as well.

Lord i hope so. It blew my mind when people thought Hunt was the man based on games vs Wagner and Tulane. I hope the staff doesnt waste two more years on Hunt.

If you didn't think he was good after those two games - you didn't actually watch them.

He was better vs Tulane than Nassib was his junior year.

He did well during his stint against Northwestern as well, although we probably failed to consider it was against their second team D.

LOL ok buddy... or i can see the difference between someone putting up numbers against guys built like high school freshmen that Wagner and Tulane had, vs putting up numbers against real competition. Sorry you are naive and didnt see it, but thats ok... now u know.

If you think I'm a chump for not seeing the difference in competition you are thick. Of course there is a difference - but as many who observed, including ESPN - said, he's been impressive against weak competition. That's what I said after those games.

But to act smug, looking back and acting like you saw this implosion coming based on those performances? C'mon.

Everyone had question marks and wondered while you were sure after those 2 performances that he would be awful?!? I smell BS.

TBCUSE11 - please define real competition so you can be locked in at some point. As last month "real competition" didn't include PSU and UCF as you attacked other good posters on here who suggested they may be good teams (since you conveniently ignored my other thread UCG is now ranked in all polls and the first official BCS standings this week). So who is good competition? What standard do you use? Is your formula a protected secret or can you share? Please educate the masses.

Please understand how one may question your credibility based upon your factually inaccurate assertions/opinions you've made in the past though.

They play in 8A
Alin has the kind of speed that can break games wide open along with the arm to deliver the "coup de grace"Offensively we need this kind of player desperately.

Tulane is a d-1 school that is 5-2

McNabb wasn't known for his passing coming out of high school. He developed into a decent passer at SU, but certainly nothing special.

Wasn't comparing him to McNabb in terms of skill sets. The analogy was in terms of impact to the program, the "lightening in a bottle." At the time, McNabb was being recruited almost exclusively as a running back. As we all know, his impact on the overall program was a game changer for SU. Kids wanted to come here to play with him, fans wanted to see him play, other teams needed to game plan for him. He took over games. We need to find that type of "lightening" again. We are not likely to be the choice of 5 star, can't miss prospect. We have to find another "McNabb."

Welcome Aboard Alin! You made the right choice! The door looks wide open for competition at QB.

Good post, just want to point out something... Aj Long isn't going anywhere unless he wants to play 4 seasons for another school with a huge SYRACUSE tattoo on his arm lol :p
