Only if they are a grad transfer or transferring from an FCS. Otherwise they have to sit a year.Again , problem with portal guys is looking for instant PT. SU not going to guarantee.
That’s a good reason to transfer.
Yup. There's no way a starting QB is going to the transfer portal w/o some wink-wink from somewhere else.So let’s be honest here, High major P5 schools are recruiting from lower P5 schools.
Exactly. This is bad for CFB. I know the possibilities get everyone here all jazzed up. But it is exactly as you said, a way of imposing even greater hierarchy on the game. Not good. Not good at all.So let’s be honest here, High major P5 schools are recruiting from lower P5 schools.
What’s your proposal to create parity in college football? Eliminate transfers?Exactly. This is bad for CFB. I know the possibilities get everyone here all jazzed up. But it is exactly as you said, a way of imposing even greater hierarchy on the game. Not good. Not good at all.
Free agency. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. So let’s be honest here, High major P5 schools are recruiting from lower P5 schools.
Cut scholarships to 70.What’s your proposal to create parity in college football? Eliminate transfers?
Why punish the kids?Cut scholarships to 70.
It's not. There are 120 D1 schools, rightWhy punish the kids?

There are a lot of very good D1aa and D3 programs too that work around 'scholarahip restrictions' all the time.
My buddy played football at Hobart. He got about 75% of his costs covered through varying scholarships and other financial aid
Lifes not fairExcept your buddy — or some of his teammates — wouldn’t have gotten that aid if there were a bunch of fringe D1 athletes looking for cheaper education...
Well taking away hundreds or thousands of opportunities for free education and living out dreams in an attempt to create parity, which probably wouldn’t change all that much in the landscape at the end of the day, doesn’t seem like a good trade off to me. The more kids that can play college sports the better it will always sort itself outLifes not fair
Survival of the fittest
If you are the best, you play
That sort of thing
Anything that nudges the system back toward the target of amateur athletics is a good thing, and will help create parity. More importantly, it will likely lead to a better society, and more educated people. What’s your proposal to create parity in college football? Eliminate transfers?
And how would eliminating transfers do this? Not letting them have the ability to change schools just like a normal student would somehow makes it more "amateur"? They should instead be forced to stay in an unhappy situation? How would this lead to a better society and more educated people if they instead decide to just drop out because they are trapped in a situation they aren't happy with?Anything that nudges the system back toward the target of amateur athletics is a good thing, and will help create parity. Eliminating transfers or reducing scholarships, both of which have been mentioned here, would literally do the exact opposite of leading to more educated people. Parity is only something fans of teams who don’t compete for championships care about and in most cases attempts to create parity would just hurt the players without having much of result to show for.Anything that nudges the system back toward the target of amateur athletics is a good thing, and will help create parity. Good luck Jamie! You’re not in Winston-Salem anymore.
Everyone in Athens can say “so we had Joe Fields, Fromm, and Eason...and we will be starting a middling transfer from Wake?” Inspiring.Good luck Jamie! You’re not in Winston-Salem anymore.
