Aye it’s time to head for the ledge when a portal QB that we have 60 seconds of film clips on decides to pick Pitt instead of taking the offer we didn’t even make to him. We’re DOOMED!!
Dominated us on the field as wellSo much for wanting to play in a QB-friendly offense in perfect, weather conditions. Pitt has dominated us in recruiting the last few years. It's like quality QB's are allergic to us-you'd think we could get one every other year by accident.
Who says we didn't offer him? There was definitely interest from our staff. Why wouldn't we want him. The ASU staff raved about him and he has 3-4 years eligibility.Aye it’s time to head for the ledge when a portal QB that we have 60 seconds of film clips on decides to pick Pitt instead of taking the offer we didn’t even make to him.
The fans may have offered him but the coaches never did...at least Yellen never acknowledged any offer from SU.Who says we didn't offer him? There was definitely interest from our staff. Why wouldn't we want him. The ASU staff raved about him and he has 3-4 years eligibility.
Awful lot of assumptions being made in this thread. I'm pretty sure we didn't offer him.
Do any of you - any of you - know we didn't approach him and he said "thanks, but no thanks"? A lot of people talk as if they are insiders, when they know nothing but their opinions and can't wait to pounce. It's getting as bad as the basketball board.

I'd rather bring in one grad transfer and one 2020 kid this year, and try for a big fish in 2021. Bringing in a kid with 2/3 years eligibility, when Tommy still has this year and next doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
If Tommy is as good as we think he can be next year, do you think he's going to stay for a 5th year?
I don't, regardless of where he ends up on a draft board.
I do still feel like everything will work out, but I'm a little more worried about the QB position than I'd normally be.
what is our record against Pitt over the last 5 games? It seems to me, they always win.when was that?

After so many whiffs at this point if they can get Daylin Mclemore I’ll take it.I'd rather bring in one grad transfer and one 2020 kid this year, and try for a big fish in 2021. Bringing in a kid with 2/3 years eligibility, when Tommy still has this year and next doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
With our QB situation and his talent, if we didn't have interest, I'm even more concerned about our staff. There was definite interest from our staff because Landan Salem, the director of player personnel, was following him on Twitter?; and no one else?
So many whiffs? In terms of main targets, we missed on Tyler Van Dyke, reclassing Veilleux to 2020, and Cade Fortin. Our staff has always been very selective on the QB front, and now they're definitely going to be even more secretive of who the main targets are. After so many whiffs at this point if they can get Daylin Mclemore I’ll take it.
He wouldn't have helped the 2020 QB situation since he wouldn't be able to play though...With our QB situation and his talent, if we didn't have interest, I'm even more concerned about our staff.

Arguing semantics doesnt make it any better. Recruiting is a zero sum game. There are dozens of QBs who could have been offered (maybe were) that presumably could have come in and played. According to you, the staff selected three of those kids to target - and "whiffed" on them.
Huh? Your opinion is that “we could have recruited a QB who could then play”?
They seem to win every time we play them. That is dominant to me.If you strip out the actual games, scores, and stats and just look at W/L I can see how you might come to that conclusion. I wouldn’t call that stretch dominant
It's not just about 2020. We need some quality QB's in the pipeline. He wouldn't have helped the 2020 QB situation since he wouldn't be able to play though...
