Class of 2023 QB Marcus Stokes (FL) Portal to Memphis

They have a wideout in the portal too, school isn’t too far from me.

This is the exact type of player we need in the QB room. Lower school kid that sling it, and likely story as how he got to the school. Wouldn’t be surprised if we found a 23-years old with a unique situation…sense Nixon programs his QBs versus developing them.

Ehhhhhh. I’m very EHHHH on this kid. Looks like they are clearly targeting arm talent and accuracy over any dual threats which is nice to see for this system we run

61% completion percentage is solid, would love it a little higher, but it is a very solid base to work with. From his tape, he seems to be going through his reads and throwing to open man. Would have loved to see him throw a slant or 2, but everything else looks good and on time, which is important in this offense. Seems like he would be a great fit for a backup for a year, with great potential to take over.

I completely forgot about that video 😂
Me too. In basically any situation I would be appalled by someone using that word, obviously, and wouldn’t want anything to do with him. In this case it feels like a dumb kid singing along and not realizing how stupid it is to actually sing that word. If our Black head coach and many Black staff members and players are ok with this kid, I am ok.

I agree. I don't know how applicable this is, but I was in an Edwar Albee play "The death of Bessie Smith" a progressive play about how she died because she was denied entry to a segregated hospital. I was the KKK-type father of the racist nurse, using the N word several times. This play was performed in Bed Stuy in Brooklyn - and I got almost no negative reactions. Someone's got to be the villain to set up the hero.

i remember when this happened and my pick up basketball crew talking about it. Their sentiment was, "man the only people mad at this kid are yall." (i'm white)

Im no longer giving a recruit higher praise because he had an offer or even was enrolled at, a sec school just because of that. We have had some recent poor success with an ex Florida and LSU recruited and rostered quarterback. Hype vs reality. That said, take the kid on how he’s performed on and off the field, not because he was going to UF.
