QB McKenzie Milton

I am not sure he is going to go somewhere that he will have to compete "hard" for a starting job. He is a 5th guy and I'm sure he wants a clear path to start.

with his injury history, not sure he'll have that

I'm not saying that we'd get involved, that this player would be interested in coming here, etc. -- who knows.

But I'd have to imagine that he'd be an absolute take -- no downside to bringing him in to see if you can catch lightning in a bottle. And if he can't beat TD out, then great -- that would suggest that DeVito would be poised for a big senior year. And if MM can't get it done physically, there's no downside to having him for one year and not occupying a scholarship or longer than that.

Intriguing but I'll let the coaches figure this one out.

2012 and 2018. Eric did make every start, ND was really the only game he went out with an injury. I think Ryan missed less than five plays being dinged up in 2012
Actually Devito played more than half the game vs. FSU. Dungey got injured in the 1st half - maybe a rubber pellet in the eye. SU was only winning 3-0 when Devito came in.

Yep, forgot he came out for an injury. My memory was performance based because the offense was doing nothing.

As a UCF alum, I would love to see Milton in Orange.

If Alex Smith can come back from his leg injury, I’d hope Milton can come back from his. Guy is a winner.

I would take a flyer on them, although is a kid from Hawaii who played In Orlando is going to want to come to Syracuse?

Florida State too in 2018.

I think this would come down to how strong the marriage is between Dino and Tommy Devito.

Sterlin was the OC at USF in 2017 and 2018 so he has coached against him and in fact, he was there in the game UCF played against USF when Milton suffered that horrific injury. He knows first hand what Mackenzie is capable of.

We have the Hawaii connection with Dino. We have the Hawaii connection with coach Cav and we have a bunch of players coming in from Hawaii.

One possible problem is that I think SU has been very conservative about clearing players to play, compared to some other schools. Probably would be easier to get a signoff from the doctors here given his injuries are not concussion related.
Agree with all your points especially on the SU medical staff.

Regarding Tommy, Dino needs to decide if he can still get the same player we saw briefly in 2018, or if the injuries, terrible OL, relentless sacks and pressure were permanently detrimental to Tommy’s success. Similar to how the talent and confidence was “beaten out” of David Carr 20 years ago due to the inadequacies he was dealt.

If Dino is anything less than 100% on this, he needs to find an alternative until hopefully a talented dual threat like Justin Lamson is ready. If the play of the QB position next year is anything like it was in 2019 and 2020, Dino won’t be here in 2022.

He's going to have offers from better spots than us with a chance to play, gonna be almost an impossible sell for him to spend his last season here, I'd bet nebraska has an open competition at QB and it'd be tough for him to decline that. BYU is losing zach wilson you'd think that'd be a strong option, I'd love him here but when you take off the orange glasses I just don't see it happening.

Yeah if TD stays, he's not looking here. He's looking for an easier chance at the 1 spot.

How many good teams have less than us at QB? Seems nearly impossible for those 2 things to correlate.

How many other teams have less around the QB than us, he might not be the heisman contender again but I'd bet he's a more than serviceable P5 Qb next season, with his injury I doubt he wants to play behind a horrible O line- Db can say whatever he wants but when your O line has been one of the worst in the P5 two years in a row words don't mean much, and if we are the only place he could start idk if we want him. If he's that hurt I doubt he transfers in the first place, a guy with his pedigree isn't afraid to compete.

What we need is a Custis, 2 bad ass OLs and a couple of 325 pounders at DT. We dont need another QB.
We actually need about 3 of them

Also, as good as Milton was you just can’t come back to anywhere near the level you once were. You just can’t. Mentally, physically, your a whole different player, especially relatively not long after that horrific injury. For those that don’t know I believe be ruptured an artery leading to him losing feeling in his leg and blood clots . That’s not even considering the actual injury .

Dude if you don't think that the parents and others that are in a players circle don't research information about the coaches, the offense, the players and performance including oline and how they did the year prior, then I am sorry but you are flat out wrong. I mean that doesn't even make sense. You are right that it's on the staff to sell it but you are way off if you don't think people don't do their research. This isn't Pop Warner football. You look at the pluses and minuses.
We do.

Sticking to one QB is why we are in the mess we are in now. Lets face it Devito has been a huge let down... regardless talent around him. Heck even plays were he had all day to throw with recievers running open he makes a dumb decisioms and usually just chucks one up or starts to scramble with no pressure
Last two years, we are 5-8 in games that Devito starts and we are 1-8 in games started by any other quarterback.

So, now please back up your point that we would have been better off starting someone other than Devito for the last two years.

We have tape from less than two years ago of a successful 10-3 team.

A transfer at QB could be a lightning rod to an offense along with a healthy/bolstered OL.

I would love Tommy to be what we recruited him for. But right now, the top 7 QB we recruited is redeemed for being “slightly above average” in year four.

For all parties, including Dino’s original ego, I’d vote for a move on...
If we have a healthy/bolstered offensive line, then we don't need a new QB, unless, of course, TD is suffering from PTSD given the fact that he has spent most of the last two years running for his life and getting the kicked out of him...

Give him decent protection and there is no reason the 2021 TD cannot be the same guy we watched in 2018.

Why not bring in competition?
