QB McKenzie Milton

Wasn't my point.

Mad advocated moving on, implying not bothering to give TD a shot.

My point is that you give TD the shot to see if he can be the guy from 2018.
I don't care if you bring in competition.

The guy from 2019 wasn’t so bad according to the numbers. It’s all OL development imo

They weren't so bad, agreed, but they weren't good either. He was middle to lower half of FBS in most of the basic statistical categories that I have seen in 2019. There may be some advanced stuff that I don't know about that changes this.

I'd say upper middle

TD, 2019
#56 Passer Rating
#51 TD passes
#78 yards per att
#35 completion %
INT data is hard to get quick and easy, but he threw the least amount of INT while throwing as least 300 passes in the ACC

Last two years, we are 5-8 in games that Devito starts and we are 1-8 in games started by any other quarterback.

So, now please back up your point that we would have been better off starting someone other than Devito for the last two years.

In fairness we are 5-10 when TD starts. But against P5 teams we are 2-10 and one of those wins he had a bad game. The other QBs are 1-5 against the P5 which is the same winning percentage as with TD. We are 1-6 overall when he doesn't start. I don't think he should get a cookie for beating bad teams that we didn't have scheduled this year.

I agree with you. A good chunk of the board doesn't.

Just like I am still all-in on DB, I am all-in on TD. Give him a running game and an Oline and I think he can be a really good QB. Arms like his don't grow on trees.

How could you possibly be all-in on Devito, at this juncture?

But I've used that site too.

IMO his stats are misleading. When he throws the ball generally good things happen. But I think his issue is deciding when and where to throw the ball. Which of course never shows up in the stats. Also 24.6% of his passes last year came when we were down by 15+ points. Those also are his best numbers. How much stock can we put into garbage time passing?

Here is something to consider. I doubt anyone thinks Anthony Brown is a good passer of the football. But when you compare him vs TD in P5 games last year:

AB 217.4 YPG 59.3% 8.8 Y/A 20.5 A/TD 61.5 A/INT 146.43 rating
TD 180.9 YPG 63.6% 6.9 Y/A 21.5 A/TD 118 A/INT 135.19 rating

Brown missed half the year due to injury but he was the better passer of the two in the games he played vs P5 competition.

Thanks for the tip. Seems like it is only out of 100ish guys. Most his stats besides completion percentage are in the 50s, 60s, or 70s. That why I said middle to lower half. Probably should of said of qbs eligible for these metrics instead of fbs.

it’s all good - we’re in the same ballpark. I think if he had a line he trusted, he could be a top guy in the ACC pretty easily.

I think TD is a great passer.

I think his coach has failed him on development. All the qbs are making the same mistakes. The game hasn’t slowed down for any of them.

it’s funny, the same mistakes they make Jimmy G makes for the 49ers.

I wonder who coached him

Jimmy G put up numbers that would make half the people on this board pass out

We don’t compare NFL to college - doesn’t translate

I think our OL has been snakebit and it’s gotten into his head and he now battles the yips

I get bonus points for using “snakebit” and “yips” in the same post

Jimmy G 2013: 375/568 (66.0%) 5,050 yards 53TD 9int

Matty J 2015: 383/569 (67.3%) 4,946 yards 46TDs 8int

We have yet to see anything like that here but that doesn't mean it can't happen
