Class of 2023 QB Rickie Collins (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/20/24)

If we don't get McCord back next year there will be an interesting battle for QB 1 with JW.
I know he is coming in January but I would not discount carney. Collins is similar to carney in that both have to learn a new system. Collins does have two years in a college system. The real test when they compete is who can read defenses at the speed of the college game and get the ball out quick. You can have all the arm talent and athleticism but if you cannot read defenses or have a quick release you will not be elite. It will be interesting who can separate themselves when the time comes.

Fran continues to build the roster. Let the best QB win!!

Carney will be a non factor. If KM doesn’t come back it will be JW vs Ricky

Glad the kid committed, not sure he is any better then JW only time will tell, little concerned this may put a nail
In the coffin for Kyle coming back, how many QBS can you possibly waste a scholarship on unless somebody is leaving or switching positions.
As many as it takes to get it right

Carney played small school HS Football. He's not starting next year.

I just DARTED everywhere

That sounds painful.

You do realize that Philcox was in the NFL for 9 years and he wasn't an NFL back up because of his athleticism, tough to put him behind the rest. I would put Shrader towards the bottom of all of them with regard to passing the football, the surgery between his junior and senior year didn't help either.

Devito as well isn't in the NFL for no reason either

Phicox one year as a starter - 16 TDs, 11 interceptions, 188 yards a game on 60% completions. Like I said, part of a good team, but hardly an all-time great at Syracuse. Just like Danny Schayes had a long NBA career; that doesn't mean he was great at SU in his 1 year as a starter.

I’m not sure why everyone assumes every HS QB they bring in will be the next guy? We’ve seen so many bad QB’s over the last 25 years how can anyone have any confidence in a HS QB without seeing him play? Right now without McCord our QB room would be suspect at best.

You bring in as many talented quarterbacks as possible and see how it plays out.

I'm not sure how to interpret that we had some posters follow up the official news of commitment and then uncertainty with claims that he was somehow defective and not trustworthy and not DART and blew his chance, and now he's back in the fold.

Doesn't seem like he deserved getting slammed and having some accusations made against his character.
To be clear, and I believe CL can say the same, that was the information from usually very reliable contacts, so posting the information was nothing personal from my end with the young man, it was relaying what allegedly was going on

I get it, I'm just a little uncomfortable with the idea of DART being weaponized against people's character.

He won four conservative state titles with different players. I do not care if you win four pop warner championships it shows you are a winner. Kid is a gammer. Already seen enough highly rated transfers that came here that were busts. Now Collins and JW may turn out to be great but I would not dismiss any qb that shows he can win at any level.

So the end of Jakhari?
Damn I hope not. I'd really like to see what he's got...but if the room gets crowded and he doesn't want to compete with it, then I guess he's gotta do what he's gotta do...but I really hope he gets a chance to play in half of this bowl game
