Class of 2023 QB Rickie Collins (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/20/24)

Phicox one year as a starter - 16 TDs, 11 interceptions, 188 yards a game on 60% completions. Like I said, part of a good team, but hardly an all-time great at Syracuse. Just like Danny Schayes had a long NBA career; that doesn't mean he was great at SU in his 1 year as a starter.
Passer of the football is what we were discussing and phlicox was much better throwing the ball than shrader. Different era but a 9 year career in the NFL would tell you as much.

Shut up and enjoy.
Relax. I don’t go after posters, why are you coming at me? It’s a serious question. Would he come here to be a back up? The way this played out is weird.

I think it's just competition for JW; Collins replaces CDRW. We'll still need him even when McCord comes back for next season.

Fran should just say okay. We are on to our next guy. See what he has to say at that point.

He won four conservative state titles with different players. I do not care if you win four pop warner championships it shows you are a winner. Kid is a gammer. Already seen enough highly rated transfers that came here that were busts. Now Collins and JW may turn out to be great but I would not dismiss any qb that shows he can win at any level.
Carney will be just find. I'm as a big fan of Luke a anyone. He will be smart, red-shirt his first year. Luke will look watch and listen and learn. The kid can make every throw, has a strong arm and he is smart and does a decent job reading D fences. He is a good year from getting into D1 shape. Give him a year and he will be ready to compete with JW & RC. In the meantime, sit back and watch Rickie and JW battle it out.

I’m not sure why everyone assumes every HS QB they bring in will be the next guy? We’ve seen so many bad QB’s over the last 25 years how can anyone have any confidence in a HS QB without seeing him play? Right now without McCord our QB room would be suspect at best.
True but not nearly as bad in years past

And Bill Scharr threw a better ball than Philcox, but got run off the team because he wasn't popular with the other players.

Really seems like the narrative is changing fast on Williams. End of the season the chatter was he blew the doors off the scout team all season and was starting to steal QB2 snaps, clear leader at QB heading into next season, if McCord sits the bowl we get a nice sneak preview.

Now it's not sounding like that.

It's simple

Whoever we think will be the guy is underrated and great

Kyle was the difference between 9-3 and 3-9 this year. I assume fran knows that the answer is on the roster if that's how he is handling it because he's proven he knows what's up. In general though, i dont think you short the QB position on powder.
The expectations of finding McCords annually need to be shelved. He was a unique situation where Fran had a relationship going back to childhood and McCord's original home didn't realize what they had and let him go. Had they known and guaranteed him the starting job, he stays and we have a different qb this year. We may never see those circumstances again. It's more likely we find a Joe Burrow that is buried at his first home, transfers out, then blossoms at his next stop. We'll have to trust the staff's scouting. Hopefully this dude is Joe Burrow. Or maybe Williams is and this dude transfers again.

soooooo we all going to stop crapping on the journalism profession or are we too high on our horses?
The "journalism profession" has to start adhering to the established practices. The problem is, the true journalists are competing against the journos that just try to scoop everyone without recourse for jumping the gun.

I agree but the schedule it top 5 in country so far and obviously that can change. Really hard for ANY Frosh no matter how good he is to manuever that and do well. Now if he lights it up and beats out a 4* kid then we gotour guy. Cant just give it to him.

He obviously heard something as he knows the rules about jumping the gun.

Do we know though? We saw what we had in 2023 and it was terrifying. We have no idea about JW. Johnson, who i don’t view highly at all, was the back up the entire season.
I’m not worried about it. Bring in best players and best man wins
Yea i shouldn’t have worded it as you’re worried. I know what you mean.
