Yep had heard he was gonna enter. If I’m Fran I’m going all in for him to come in as QB 2 and compete. I can understand if he wants a guaranteed starting place somewhere.

Unless he's willing to go to a lower level, going to be hard to find a guaranteed spot this time of year. Would have been easier in the previous portal after the season

Correct. Coming to SU puts him right back into his current situation. He should have portaled back in December.

He had been rumored to be entering the Portal for two seasons now! Finally, he has entered. I liked what I saw from him this year. He is going to be much in demand...and we may have spent all of our cash!!! If I were SU, I would still try to get him...but, we selected a QB1 already...

With the Blue-Gold game behind us, it was only a matter of time. On Wednesday, it was reported that Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli will be entering the transfer portal to play somewhere else for his final year of eligibility.

This spring, there has been an ongoing quarterback competition at Notre Dame between Steve Angeli, Kenny Minchey, and CJ Carr. Given the nature of the position and college football itself — there were a number of different scenarios that were possible. With this being Angeli’s last year of eligibility, a common scenario was that if he was not QB1 by the end of spring — he’s be transferring out of South Bend.

While we don’t know the exact details of the race right now, there is a Marcus Freeman press conference scheduled for next week which I’m sure will at least provide a little bit of clarity before we get into summer. I am still not expecting him to name a starter until August — but we will see.


Everyone should thank Angeli (and probably buy him a drink) thanks to the way he has handled himself and for his Orange Bowl heroics. He’s a class act that made Notre Dame a better team last year.
