I’m not sure why everyone is saying this kid is better than Collins. Because he did some mop up duty in a couple of ND games doesn’t prove he’s better than Collins. He couldn’t beat out a QB at ND who couldn’t throw at all last year.
I think it’s more that folks are reading the tea leaves that the staff thinks he’s better than Collins.

Doesn't matter which QB is better or all these whatif's. Whatever QB gets the start is not making it through a full season unscathed with the schedule we play. We need 2 QB's that can ball.

*Hell of alot more than some top 5 Slot Receiver

Competition and performance will determine who is best and worthy of QB1 status. Few things should be guaranteed in life, and the starting QB slot is certainly not one of them lol

To play devil’s advocate, we know Angeli had options. If you were him or his parents, what would you need to hear to sign in the dotted line so quickly?

Bingo. Angelli has waited his time for three years at ND where ND over recruited him with a portal transfer. He's not commiting to anywhere where he has to battle to be QB1. He could have stayed at ND to do that.
a.) no way he beats out CJ Carr
b.) did they feel the GA state kid was better too? They brought him in as well.

People should drink the tea not read it.

He played and started their entire bowl game against Oregon State. That’s not mop up duty.

I'm not so sure "everyone" thinks that. A Collins-Angeli QB competition is a win-win for the program. The interest goes way beyond "mop-up" duty. The staff has multiple connections and scouting information on Angeli's skillset, football IQ, and makeup. They see him as a great fit in Nixon's offense; otherwise, they wouldn't risk losing Collins.

Drop throw common sense into the mix...very confusing.

It was already determined at ND he wasn’t starting next year. That’s why he’s in the portal.

Leonard was a great leader and a tough, hard running quarterback. He was not a good passing quarterback. He could throw to wide open receivers and that was basically it. Angelli could’t beat him out. He may good, but it is far from a given. Collins has a much stronger arm and is more athletic. Angelil better be a lot more accurate or he won’t beat him out.

It doesn’t take a genius to connect a few dots. This is a big move requiring serious NIL resources while Fran knows we have holes at other spots. This isn’t an insurance play.

Leonard was also their big portal pick up.

Their investment in him was different.

If Angeli had substantial PT under his belt sure … as I’ve stated before he couldn’t beat out Riley Leonard who struggled to hit water falling out of a boat. Collins sat behind a Heisman winner and Heisman hopeful. I know a ND insider who sees this as lateral at best.

I'm just saying I don't think the coaches agree with him.

I don't have any inside information, but Collins is a more highly rated transfer, so why do people assume that Angela would just beat him out?

Riley Leonard led Notre Dame to the NCAA championship game last season. What did Ohio St. insiders say about Kyle McCord last spring after he transferred to Syracuse?
