In due time

Yeah, if Collins stays:
  • He'd get another year to be be immersed in the system
  • He might get some game action THIS year, by design, to help his experience level
  • He would get extra time to work on things like footwork, his throwing mechanics, etc. that were discussed as being his biggest areas of opportunity
Then, a pretty seamless transition to him post-Angeli, with the opportunity to be a multi-year starter.

Doesn’t Angeli have 2 years of eligibility?

And competition is good.

Remember when McNabb beat out 2 other worthy QBs? All three have done well in FB and life.
Very good. It’s funny that people were worried about losing Jakhari so much and he looks out of the picture

This board is awful at judging talent. There have been so many misses it’s laughable. Remember the stars don’t matter crap we were spoon fed for 20 years meanwhile we struggled to win 4 games. Well guess what they do.

I’m not sure why everyone is saying this kid is better than Collins. Because he did some mop up duty in a couple of ND games doesn’t prove he’s better than Collins. He couldn’t beat out a QB at ND who couldn’t throw at all last year.
Who knows if he is, I was speaking more abstractly. But I’d rather have Collins having to fight for the job with this guy than the competition he beat out this spring.

Angeli is not here to be QB2. He’s here to put up ridiculous numbers and go to the nfl
That's what he's coming here for. However, what/if any indication is there than he will walk in here and be QB1?

Downing. Went on to be a doctor.

The funny thing is, we've had so many down QB years post-1999, a guy like Downing [who barely played here] might have been a quality starter those years when we were desperate for a QB. In 1999, he was arguably third on the depth chart.

To play devil’s advocate, we know Angeli had options. If you were him or his parents, what would you need to hear to sign in the dotted line so quickly?
Money and Fair opportunity to start in ACC for a team that led the country in passing last year

Screw 721Comstock and the Otto he rode in on!
I proclaim that the catchphrase "Agree 144%" is now in the public domain and that no longer must we posters pay homage to its supposed originator!

Can we get back to discussing Utica now. Sheesh, you people.

Gee I dont know, because his old coach was Nunzs brother? And before that Nunz was the HC?

Are we all forgetting about this?
Nunz being the HC at Bergen Catholic while Angeli was in 3rd grade probably didn't factor into the decision.

I'm glad we got the kid but he's not a slam dunk, Kyle McCord situation.

He's a Rickie Collins with a little game experience.

Just a reminder for people that forgot about what Syracuse's passing game looked like in November 2023.

-11/3/2023 CDRW loss against BC 37 total passing yards and 4 interceptions
-11/11/2023 Villari win against Pitt 8 Total Passing Yards

For those counting that was all of 18 months ago. I know Fran and staff know what they're doing but yea I would be ok if we never had to do that again ever cause we were worried about hurt feelings in the QB room.

You realize “hurt feelings” as you put it could lead us to that exact situation because that’s when kids could transfer out lol. Obviously Fran was surely transparent about this otherwise Rickie would likely already be in the portal, but part of being a HC is managing your players and these are kids.

Don’t think I said he was a slam dunk.

Just why he would want to come to Syracuse over other schools?

Also Nunz was the high school coach at Bergen Catholic until 2017.
