Where does Fran make it seem like that? Have we been linked to Angeli? The only kid that we brought in was a clear backup, so where has Fran shown that? And asking if he’s still obligated to start him if he’s injured is silly. All in, to me, is exactly what Fran Brown did. Said publicly he’s giving the keys to Rickie Collins.
Fran said he wants to win now, period. If a better player at a position comes along Fran will play him. Again if team composition changes and someone is playing better, that player will play. A starter in April is not the same as a starter in September.

That was quite literally my point the entire time, that I didn’t think Angeli would be such a substantial upgrade it would cause FB to walk back his public naming Rickie QB1 and saying he’s the guy.
No you said regardless of how good Angeli or anyone else may be he wouldn’t start, because Fran already named a starter in April. Angeli not being good enough was a secondary point.

That has never, for even a second, been my point. Now I can see why we’ve been going back and forth all day, maybe I didn’t make my stance as clear as I could have.

I am sure we all know the best players will play and start regardless of most anything.
Exception: A player that is not DART on or off the field and is a first year player under Fran. 2nd year players not throwin bullseyes would've already portaled out.

This is all under the assumption Angeli would out play Rickie pillar to post, I have to believe if Angeli was that much better he would’ve been playing. Which leads me to believe Rickie and Angeli are comparable, in which case, why would Fran Brown go back on his public declaration of Rickie Collins being the guy?
Because coaches always want more talent.
Plus his QB 1 has a thumb injury and sometimes injuries turn out to be worse than expected.
We don’t know what coaches know so I trust them to make the right decision but I don’t put it past them to bring in a QB like Angeli with connections to the QB coach Nunzio

I want Angeli. I think his leadership could add 2+ wins.

I’m honestly going on very limited info as I know next to nothing about Collins, but Angeli’s age combined with the poise he’s shown in big spots at a major program gets me excited.

Can't find Rickie's age anywhere, but Angeli is 21, and guessing since Collins is a RS-SO he's 20 or 21.

We can dive into his game logs, but most of it is mop up duty rather than "poise in big spots". He was solid yet unspectacular when Leonard got hurt against PSU. His only other actual game time was the bowl game against Oregon State, which I wouldn't use as proof of anything.

I just find it hard to say definitively he's better than Collins, or that he's a better leader than Collins without specific proof.

I hear you. Angeli also looked really accurate during those stints but it's a very limited sample size.

Hmmm. Could securing a "household QB name" help entice some of the 5 star WRs we are trying to lure in? Hard to know whether I'm on board with this. I think it depends on how Rickie looks.

I don't see a roster that has Angeli and Collins on it. That's the main thrust of my confusion around all this.

Theoretically if they signed Angeli I don't know why Collins would stay at SU.

Wouldn't be surprised now if any of the underclassmen QBs hit the portal.

I understand utilizing the connections we have to get a visit but this seems like a misstep by Fran and the staff, especially when the transfer you brought in won the job in the spring.

Now this visit could very well have nothing to do with Angeli actually coming to Syracuse. It could be one of those situations where he comes to visit mainly to meet with Nunzio and company who we know are close to him to help get advice on where to go.

2 QB system in the works?

If he wanted to chat with Nunz he could jump on the phone. Come on lol
