Please don't conjure them up, we've gotten this far.Where are our Uber Notre Dame fans for a little insight?
Not beating out Carr isn't a concern. Not beating out Minchey is another story. Is there any reason to be concerned that Angeli couldn’t win the ND starting job this spring? I don’t know anything about who he was competing with, so I ask sincerely.
There's a lot of driving and traffic between Ocean Township and Oradell.I don’t know how much NIL monies are left - nor do I care to know.
But I do wonder if Pena not committing has anything to do with the rumors of Angeli coming aboard.
Being a Jersey kid, he knows him. And I’m sure knows how good he is.
Yeah, if Collins stays:
Then, a pretty seamless transition to him post-Angeli, with the opportunity to be a multi-year starter.
- He'd get another year to be be immersed in the system
- He might get some game action THIS year, by design, to help his experience level
- He would get extra time to work on things like footwork, his throwing mechanics, etc. that were discussed as being his biggest areas of opportunity
Been watching the Reddit thread. ND fans seem to really like him.Where are our Uber Notre Dame fans for a little insight?
I think people are jumping to conclusions as well.I’ve been watching this unfold pretty quietly but I’m super confused why some people are acting like Ricky is now an after thought and this kid is the next McCord. Maybe I’m missing something? I’m glad he’s here… I just don’t get the hype? He got beaten out by a QB who has thrown for 4 yards in his college career. Competition is good and maybe he wins the starting job, I want the best player to play but the situation feels more Drew Allen than Kyle McCord.

Hard to win a job when the coach brings in designated starters. It may have never been a real competitionIs there any reason to be concerned that Angeli couldn’t win the ND starting job this spring? I don’t know anything about who he was competing with, so I ask sincerely.
Did you miss Joe Fields first start? If there’s one thing that I like about this staff, is that they don’t seem like they want to go with a guy they’re not sure can get the job done.
Their standards are higher than our recent past.
In my entire 45 years of fandom, I’ve never felt worse than Troy Nunes first game. The drop off from McNabb to Nunes was shocking.
I was concerned we were going to have that same feeling in Atlanta. Not sure I’m as worried now. Whoever wins will be at least as good as Angeli last year, and that seems acceptable.
If I had a $ for every time I've heard that here over the years...The SU QB room is loaded. Best I have seen in years.
Extremely excited by this add - but yes lol.If I had a $ for every time I've heard that here over the years...
Not for nothing - Guys slated to start do get beat out. It will make the entire QB room better if they all continue to compete and I hope they do. And QB’s get injured - we sure saw enough of that with Dungey and Shrader.Rickie right now
Anyways, welcome Steve! May the best QB win out.

I’m actually excited that he looked at our depth chart and wanted to come in and compete for the spot in the Fall with Rickie already here. Love the confidence. Hopefully they’ll feed off each other and we’ll have a much stronger QB room as a result. Is there any reason to be concerned that Angeli couldn’t win the ND starting job this spring? And if someone one misses action don't have to play someone not ready yet.I’m actually excited that he looked at our depth chart and wanted to come in and compete for the spot in the Fall with Rickie already here. I don't think so.Is there any reason to be concerned that Angeli couldn’t win the ND starting job this spring? I don’t know anything about who he was competing with, so I ask sincerely.
And not for nothing - when they buy a QB, they buy a QB $$$. That’s a a lot of NIL investment and pressure to not make that work.I don't think so.
Notre Dame didn't really consider Angeli to be "part of the plan" I don't think. They just have a different vision for what they want from their starting QB, and Angeli isn't it. But he messes up the plan somewhat because he was good enough to be a solid QB2, but because of the vision they weren't ever going to move him to QB1.
Optics matter for a school like Notre Dame. The vision is they want either a) a high flying portal QB someone already developed for them ie Leonard or b) an uber highly ranked prep player they feel comfortable starting soon after they join the program ie Carr.
Angeli hit his ceiling there.
