It's hard to draw conclusions without knowing the behind the scenes details. McCord wasn't guaranteed a starting job even though he was the incumbant. That's unfathomable now. Changes in scenery help some guys.

Comparing to McCord situation is apples to oranges. OSU needed a scapegoat and were bringing in a high profile recruit. White is already there and has sat behind a garbage QB the whole season.

He was a true freshman. There were also at least 2 other QBs on the roster because 3 are in the portal. Bagging on this kid not being able to unseat all 3 as a true frosh seems a bit much. The kid was the 5th ranked QB in the country less than a year ago.

You're right. There are lots of differences. One being he is a true freshman and McCord was a 4th year junior. It's tough to draw conclusions on a guy that hasn't had his first spring practice yet. I feel the same way I do about the transfer olinemen. Bring em all in and let the cream rise to the top. The rest can transfer again.

Apparently I’m the only one that watched Auburn play. I forgot no other true freshman has taken the QB reigns over in a bad situation … ever.

You're drawing conclusions based on NOT watching someone play. Coaches are stupid sometimes. Sean Tucker wasn't going to play as a freshman until we had two opt outs and an injury.

If the coaches want to bring him in and let him compete, where's the harm? This staff does not seem like they're pinning their hopes on one guy. If he sucks, someone else gets the nod and he transfers again.

Yes it could be coaching but if we are sticking to the he is just a frosh trope how is it any better than rolling Jakari out there? The profile doesn’t make sense based on Fran’s musings about the portal, because he isn’t Kyle. Now with that being said he would make sense if Kyle was returning and they wanted to develop him to compete with the others in 2026. He won’t make the impact we need next season let’s not kid ourselves, if he does I’ll be happy to admit I was wrong, however pursuing a guy like this gives me more hope that the McCord waiver is more like fire than just smoke.

It may not be better than rolling Jakari out there. Like I said, bring in as many as you can, make them compete, play the best, and the rest get the talk. If it's a multi-year starter that wins the job, be more selective next year. If it's a one year guy, lather-rinse-repeat.
