QB

Shrader was offered by Alabama. Does that count?
Was he really? Wow And for the record, I don't care of the qb is for Syracuse. I want us to win and to win with good kids. I trust the coaches to know more about the kids on their team until proven otherwise.

How will Shrader be healthy enough when he threw a pick 6 on the first play and couldn't even chase the guy down? That wasnt a new injury he played a half of football on it and Pitt is just a week away. He might be healthier than he was vs ND but it won't be a full recovery.

You can't think of starting him for this one. FSU different story. You can give him a full week off then a week of first team reps if we don't want to stick with CDRW.
I would say healthy enough would be if he himself feels comfortable to go with the trainers clearance, but with little to no stipulations to the coaches on the kind of plays that can be run with GS next week. I would say maybe will find out tomorrow, but I would say more likely that it will be something that we see in a tweet 30 minutes before kickoff next Saturday.

Seriously dudes been in a protective walking boot the last 3 weeks during the week (3 weeks!), and yet still plays and lays it all out there.

Everyone needs to get the off his case and the team in general cuz as I said to my friends last night if and until you play “banged up” not able to be the player you are and want to be, and can be but just can’t be while still giving it 100% of what you have left, its too easy to get negative.

It’s why I wasn’t pissed at all yesterday playing a blue blood team with endless depth on the lines. Here’s hoping the the teams we face going forward are dealing with the same and we pull out a couple more(yes with 16 if 6 is not 100%).

Let’s continue support these guys as the season winds down and on knowing the challenges this program faces as A program in general, and individually with what this brutal sport does to these kids bodies.
I have no criticism of Shrader trying to give it a go and gut it out for his team.

I do think criticism of the coaches is fair. The dude didn't look right from the start. And we do know when Shrader isn't right, it's pretty bad.

This especially with trusting the coaches. It's easy to look at Dino first 6 years and have little to no trust in him due to only 1 winning season. Until last season I had lost all hope in Dino's ability to create a consistently good program here. However, he has now had the team in his tenure on the heels of a conference championship game twice in a division that has Clemson and Florida State.

And that is why I trust him now because this program is closer now than ever since joining the ACC to being a real contender moving forward.

Hindsight is always clearer and Shrader shouldn't have played The key is will the coaches learn from it.
As to Dinos ability to judge who to play i would hope he is relying on his coaches to make those decisions. If not we are in trouble.

Hindsight? Give me a break. Everyone in the dome was saying and thinking the same thing as it was happening

Interesting you mention that, because on TV it seemed obvious that Shrader just wasn't right and was having trouble doing basic things like setting his feet to pass, and I wondered (and hoped) maybe I was just seeing things and live he was actually fine.

If he's been in a walking boot for a few weeks and can't plant to throw from the first snap, I think that's enough to pull him earlier than when he was pulled. Just my 0.02.

At some point the scales tip from "toughing it out" to "actively hurting the team". All kudos to the kid for being a tough SOB, but coaches get paid to make this call.

Net net, I'm agreeing with you. Usually I want to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt, but it was clear as day.

Anyone else kind of annoyed at Shrader?

Tells the staff yes OK when he clearly isn’t and then throws a pick 6 first play and can’t even chase the guy.

Game before we have a big lead going for possibly the biggest win in program history and he calls his own number every play.

He’s a big tough kid but still if you are always injured that doesn’t help us. I don’t think he took a crazy amount of hits either the staff should have learned from last year when they made him play through a bad throwing shoulder.

No, I expect it from someone like him: leader, tough, you have to have an ego to be QB1 a lot of the times (mean that positively), giving it his all.

It's the coach's job, even if he gets cleared my the med staff, to see what's going on. He's the QB, dual threat. He touches the ball every single play on offense. He gets hit a ton. He has to make precise throws, etc.

I never came close to playing at the level of these guys, but I now have ankles that are different sizes because I got "cleared" to play and kept my pain/limitations to myself. And I'm like 1% of what these guys are.

Coaches have to see this stuff, especially with QB1. The stuff that makes these guys fierce competitors and excel at sports can easily be the thing that brings them down.
