QB

His passing ability and the way he can work his progressions in the passing game really shined a light on how bad our WR core is. We need to shuffle things up and get some younger players in the game to see what they have.

Agree 100%. Shrader seemed to be spreading it around nicely at the beginning of the year and appears to have lost confidence in most of these guys. I would much rather see what some of the young guys that we need to contribute next year have to offer than continue to watch a 7th year guy not catch the ball.

Slovis is looking like his Freshman year at USC tonight easily the best he has been for Pitt.

We not only won't win next week without excellent QB play but it will be like Louisville last year or that BC game in 2019 if we play Shrader and he looks like he did today or Clemson 2H.

Pitt D looks good that is going to be a tough game.

All I know is that Shader's value is as a dual threat QB. Until he is able to be that you have to use CDRW. We won't have success with Shrader playing pocket passer on a bum ankle. All these Cuse QBs we have had over the years have been warriors. They will battle until they literally can't stand. We have a competent backup this year. There is no need to try to tough this one out. That is a luxury we haven't had in the past.

I was told they’re just going to run it down our throats the whole game.

With all due respect to Shrader's grit, he's not a prolific enough passer to "lose confidence" in the guys he's throwing to.

The bright side of this is that we are changing our expectations for what good passing is. Shrader has been statistically very pretty efficient this year. That should be the baseline in babers offense when all the pieces are competent (play calling, blocking, etc) it's still a good system and when there aren't fatal flaws, it makes it pretty easy for QBs to make good choices

Turned out TD had an issue with holding the ball too long. And he lacked mental toughness.

I’m not worried about those things with CDRW at all. There are some potential red flags, but I don’t want to go there unless it’s on the payside.
Not having that problem at Illinois. Coaching?????

I wish CDRW would drop the “Wilson” from his name. There I said it, Carlos Del-Rio has a better ring to it.

Seriously though, excited for this kid. From a depth standpoint, we get this guy for at least another 2 seasons w/o the worry of losing him to the portal/NFL. He could be the baseline for us at that position and with those skills, that’s pretty exciting.

Next weeks game is another fork in the road between a 9-10 win season and a 6-7 win season. We have to figure out a way (for once) to beat Pitt on the road. It’s our time.

Do you know that's not still an issue? Illinois is 101st in tackles for loss allowed, I'm guessing that QB has something to do with it even though I know he got hurt

Maybe? I don’t care at this point, I’m happy with Shrader, CDRW, and Lamson.

If you don’t care why do you keep commenting on him including just yesterday.

Whoa, whoa... Can't drop Wilson... I'm a Wilson... he may be in my tree somewhere!!

Just call him Mr. Wilson!

It may be an issue still but he did just go 20-22 against an FBS opponent and they are 7-1 now
From what I can tell they have a monster defense and they control the clock and run the ball, and he mainly needs to dink and dunk accurately - which is certainly something he can do.

I don’t care why he doesn’t hold the ball too long at Illinois, or if that’s even true.

So everything we should have been able to be and do. Saddening
