They won’t scheme it that way. It may wind up happening but dual qb schemes are pretty much deadprecisely. It was incredibly rare for Syracuse to play one QB all season last year. It's rare for any program these days. I'd bet we see both guys play this year, whether there's an injury or just another reason. You need to have a legit backup ready to go if you want to be a top tier program.
Ashley, if you're reading this, here's my number 857-6309Sounds like Ashley reads this board! Finally some props to Angeli
We can win with either player. Collins just needs to play within himself and not force it. He also needs to work on his release which tends to be pretty long. Looks at times like a centerfielder making a throwIf it's as close of a competition as it sounded like it was throughout camp, I don't understand how anyone can be worried going into this season about the QB position.
It also makes no sense to bash the winner of the competition (unless you are looking for clicks and controversy).
All it takes is one injury to change everything and having two QBs with starting potential is great news for this program.
Well then I like them both haha just saying I trust him to make the right decision for the SHe likes them both
I think the issue is: Is the competition close because they're both so good, or because they're both equal levels of not good? Its like a few years ago where we went into the season thinking we had an amazing offense because they were bowling over the defense in pre-season practices, only to find out that it was not that the offense was that good it was the defense was that bad.If it's as close of a competition as it sounded like it was throughout camp, I don't understand how anyone can be worried going into this season about the QB position.

With the coaches we have at the helm, especially Jeff Nixon, I think the offense is probably that good. I don't think we're going to have a problem moving the ball this year on anyone. My fear is converting in the redzone and making FGs with the two place kickers we have on the roster.I think the issue is: Is the competition close because they're both so good, or because they're both equal levels of not good? I assume they're good at reading the talent, we just wont know the reason behind a close competition until we see the guys against another team. Its the problem every team deals with in the preseason with fresh QBsWith the coaches we have at the helm, especially Jeff Nixon, I think the offense is probably that good. I'll settle for not getting punts blocked and just going for it inside the 40.With the coaches we have at the helm, especially Jeff Nixon, I think the offense is probably that good. agree. Punting protection is very fixable and we definitely have better coaches in place.I'll settle for not getting punts blocked and just going for it inside the 40.
The QB saga has completely squelched the special teams discussion. Have they cleaned up the punt protection? It was pop warner bad last year.
Hmmm, I thought it wasAshley, if you're reading this, here's my number 857-6309

That's fair, but from everything we've heard it's less of a "neither guy is separating" and more of a "both these guys are really good and have slightly different skill sets, so which works better within this offense" situation.I think the issue is: Is the competition close because they're both so good, or because they're both equal levels of not good? Field goal guys are really weak
Agreed. Kicking, other than the punter, is a major concern. I'm with you, very surprised FB didn't add more FG/KO options.agree. Punting protection is very fixable and we definitely have better coaches in place.
I was worried about kicking once I saw the spring game...doesnt sound like it'll be a lot better and we'll be going for a lot of fourth downs. The kicking is a talent issue...we really should have gotten a stronger leg. But is what it is.
Good observations throughout the preseason, kc. I'm convinced you have been at practices. We can win with either player. Collins just needs to play within himself and not force it. He also needs to work on his release which tends to be pretty long. Looks at times like a centerfielder making a throw
why did we struggle to find a decent kicker in the portal? And that's always a recipe for a bite in the azz, especially in a crucial game.
I was thinking the same thing. Coaches sometimes have a habit of getting conservative in big moments. Fran Brown hasn't shown that tendency yet... But it can't hurt his aggressiveness if he's really not convinced his guy can even make the field goal if he chooses not to go for it.Agreed. Kicking, other than the punter, is a major concern. I'm with you, very surprised FB didn't add more FG/KO options.
Playing against high level D's on the road (including Tenn) this year, so scoring will be at a premium. On the other hand, going for it much more often on 4th b/c of the lack of kicking talent might be a benefit.
I thought it was 1-900-mix-a-lot to kick them nasty thoughts..Ashley, if you're reading this, here's my number 857-6309
