Quade Green to Washington

We have to stop with this. Goodine, Girard and Boeheim are unproven at this level. Washington may very well transfer. If Quade showed interest, I invite him to campus for a visit. He's played meaningful basketball including pushing Kentucky to the NCAA Tournament last season.
It's not about what we want it's about what Quade wants. He wants to go somewhere that he can play 32 min a game and start. He looks at our roster and knows there is a possibility that won't happen. Hop is also losing both of his guards after this year and doesn't have anything close to what we have coming in or coming back at that position.

Really?

And people liked this post? Awful.

I've seen some of the professional teams posters root for on this board and they are much worse than Syracuse basketball and don't switch allegiances.

I know a lot of people here aren't alums, but come on.

I really hope nobody who agrees with this were one of the posters who didn't want Hop to take over for JB in the first place.
I think people are probably liking it because they are rooting for Hop to succeed and for the UW program to have success. Which also makes Syracuse look good. Just about every single game the commentators mention Syracuse, how long Hop was there and so on and so forth. I don't think people are agreeing with the idea that we should abandon Syracuse basketball in favor of solely focusing our energy on UW basketball. I feel pretty confident if you have a posting total in the 1,000's on a message board you are involved enough in the program you probably aren't leaving.

Yeah I don't buy some of this. We have boatloads of Bills/Jets/Mets/Knicks/Giants fans here and they can't make it through Syracuse Basketball?
I've said all along that most fans don't really appreciate or understand what JAB has done for the last 43 years. It's not easy putting a winning product out on the floor every single year. Let's hope the tradition continues.

We have nothing more than they do. They have Jaylen Nowell and we have Jalen Carey. Besides that there is a clear path to playing time for any one that is good enough to take it.

Nowell has played the 3 the entire time he has been there. They have a kid named Elijah Hardy who is ranked outside the top 200 and a 3 star kid. They will have Bay as a 2nd year kid along with Carter as a 3rd year at the so maybe they move Nowell back up top. Hard to say. Other than that they have no one else. If Green went there he would play 36-38 minutes a game.

Spot on.

Sounds pretty much the same as what we have. 0 true point guards and only 1 guy that has ever played anything resembling meaningful minutes.

We have Jalen and Brycen who are both top 50 kids in my opinion. They don't have 1 this next year.

I liked it because I like hop and thought it was funny in a sarcastic sort of way. I'll never abandon being a Syracuse fan but im not sure how calling people out for liking a harmless post about a ex cuse player/coach that was a huge part of our program is awful? That's gotta be the least awful post I've seen around here in awhile and I took it as a joke.

And I disagree. SU has no depth at the guard position after Carey. Buddy can't play at this level yet. Who's to say Girard and Goodine are going to adapt any better? Syracuse has not had a true point guard since Tyler Ennis and now people think they're above accepting Green as a transfer? He would start immediately and get meaningful minutes at SU. If I'm on the staff, I'm reaching out to him. It would be malpractice to go into the season inexperienced at the guard spot.

False. Syracuse will have Carey, Hughes [who will likely shift to the 2 full time], and then four reserves.

That doesn't equate to "no depth." There is depth, including one player who is the coach's son. Unproven depth is different than "no depth."

Not directed at you specifically, cuse10, but I'm not sure what is so hard to grasp about this: Green is reportedly looking for an immediate path to a starting role, after what transpired at UK. He might look at our backcourt situation, and not want to "risk" being the third guard behind [for example] Carey and Hughes, and not starting for another season.

Or, he might look at our situation and believe that he has a clear path to start, shifting Carey to combo / 2, with Hughes staying as a small forward.

Or he might look at other teams' rosters and think that there's a better opportunity for him elsewhere.

Debating about roster X versus roster Y is pointless -- it all comes down to which option Green sees as most beneficial to his quest for PT.

Can Hughes dribble well enough for a 2? We honestly have not seen it too much.

I want Hop to be successful as much as the next person, but when you say “stop being a fan” what are you suppose to take it as?

Definitely -- he has a much smoother handle than Battle. I think he's just sublimating that to fit in, and defer to a more experienced backcourt and a team of established returning players.

Not difficult for me to envision him being the top or second scoring option on next year's team, along with Carey / Brissett, and having the green light to show an expanded game.

Hughes is similar to Andrew White- a scorer, who will make tough shots, but will, at times, struggle on defense (although I think Hughes is better as a help defender than White was, and White was a more deadly "tough shot" maker... so far... the comparison is not perfect, obviously). The similarity is that we speculated playing White at the 2 as well... but the dribbling was a thing.

Agreed. A former McDonalds AA and freshman starter at Kentucky is looking at SU and seeing Howard and Battle(probably) gone and Carey back. I doubt he’s looking at anyone else as a factor.

Let’s just be objective and view it the way an outsider would...Based on rankings, Girard is probably freshman Trevor Cooney? And Goodine is somewhere in between freshman Frank Howard and Jalen Carey?

Who knows if they’ll surprise and vastly outplay their rankings, but look at our freshmen guards over the years. I think more have struggled than have come right in and thrived.
