Quadir Copeland/NC St

To remind some people from Scott11 who also had insider information on Q.

A while back I argued with Dasher about what kind of kid Q is and argued that Dasher was unfairly labeling Copeland.. I'm here to admit I was wrong. What I learned after the fact was that he was tremendously difficult in a number of ways and disrespectful. He was not welcome back here. He didn't have a choice whether or not to leave Cuse. Suffice to say Siena was also not an option. And I'm told his transfer options were also limited by his transcript and he's not thrilled where he ended up. A case of a kid who blew a great opportunity.

didnt say they play ineligible kids. but kids certainly xfer to schools with less strict requirements.

That's very true but you can't blow off school and still be eligible. I've dealt with compliance offices.

When people say he stopped going to class there's this perception that he was flunking out or had bad grades. He couldn't have transferred to McNeese state and been eligible to play if he didn't have the ncaa mandated credits and gpa standing based on progress towards graduation. That's a fact.

He may have stopped going to class because he knew he was done at Syracuse., but he somehow stayed eligible. Maybe he took summer school idk.

Florida’s acceptance rate is in the low 20s.

It has become a difficult school to get into.

I guess their standards have changed.
Yes, they have. I live in Tampa and have a teenage son about ready to apply to colleges. UF is not easy to get into at all (especially out of state). Hell, they're ranked top 10 in public universities in the country and I low 30's overall.

Go to the Mcneese state administration requirements page. They have a highlighted section that states to paraphrase "if you don't meet our requirements no worries, you can still be accepted on an exception basis ".

It’s the Harvard of….
Uh, well
Um.
This is awkward.

I guess you just want to argue. The young man has grown up and made a huge transition not in just his game but his emotional reactions to playing the game. It’s a very nice story. Wade admits he needed to go to a small program to progress. I guess you want to blame Red, the program etc vs giving Copeland himself the credit for working hard, improving his game, listening to his coach etc.The explosion in his shooting %’s, his assists, his assist/TO ratio, his points-currently all statistically proves the great progression in his game this year. Sorry if you don’t see it but his current coach saw it during this summer.

“Will Wade indicated he did not initially expect Quadir Copeland to become the centerpiece of the 2025-26 NC State team, but recognized his rapid development halfway through the summer when Copeland began outplaying everyone
. Despite early "tough love" and a brief, difficult period, Wade noted that Copeland matured into a critical leader, playmaker, and, according to Pack Insider's 2025-26 report, a foundational piece, boasting historic performances like 16 assists with zero turnovers.

Wade talking about how last season he kicked Q off the team and sent him home to Philadelphia for 10 days and how Q was talking about transferring again. PressReader.com - Digital Newspaper & Magazine Subscriptions

So much revisionist history here about Q. He was a dumpster fire. On the MeShawn Williams level. He’s has two more years to get his act together. With a recent suspension thrown in. So good for him I guess.

Just curious how different Q was from Dion or Devo or, he!!, DC?

We have had any number of “difficult” players.

Great point. Q was tame compared to Devo and Johnny Flynn. They were the two biggest trash talkers I've ever seen from Syracuse players.

UF has always had high standards, but schools like Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, NC State have become much harder to get into because of so many applicants. Mostly northeast kids.

Trash talk isn't difficult - what goes on off the court is what makes guys difficult - and let's be real, Q wasn't nearly as impactful as Devo and Flynn so they get away with more and even Devo was eventually told to leave.

Just another example of the ineptitude and lack of intelligence that follows Red around like a storm cloud. He let this kid go when most of us knew the talent and fire Q brought to this program. Unbelievable. It truly is. Red is the opposite of King Midas🤴🥇➡️💩
