Quadir Copeland transferring to McNeese St

Yeah seeing the struggles of everyone except Maliq is telling regarding the talent level last year. Bummed for JT though. Such a good kid and plays hard he just lacks the feel for the game at this level.

I mean he starts but only got 14 mins in their most recent game after a mediocre first outing too

Eh, Brown ended up on Duke and Copemand and Williams are failing because of their behavior not because of lack of talent. It's hard for me to complain about our ability to recruit talent with the #6 player in the country on our roster and #15 coming in next year.

Yeah I don't watch exhibitoons I don't even like college basketball anymore after the last 2 march madnesses and it was my favorite sport hands down for decades. Will watch us but even those Duke MSU Kentucky Kansas games will be a chore tonight tbd.

Him and JJ look to be in line for 35 mins per game. I'm nervous we won't get to reserve judgment until Texas should we end up dropping Colgate or Youngstown. Let's see how the do against Texas I guess...

Bell looks stronger and good for 20mpg at the 3 and C and PF looks fine with Jayre Lamp Donnie and McLeod.

Any fan that isn't absolutely terrified of the JJ-Carlos back court after LeMoyne is delusional.
last year there were a lot of bigs but no one could play center or power forward ...uggggggh

this year theres a lot of guards but (potentially) no one can play Point...ugggghh

how do you construct a roster with 5 shooting guards and only 1 (fun sized) PG???

I don't understand the rationale of wanting so many guys gone, rejoicing when one side decides to move on and then following their every box score looking for vindication.
well there were a lot of character issues and poor behavior etc last year...a lot of diva behvior for players that werent backing it up...sefish mentality that was uncoachable despite being "talented"...players also talked a lot of smack on the way out as well. they were so disrepectful to red imo

hard to blame any fan that was paying attention last year, not to be at least a little happy that it was indeed the players that were the issue...

im glad they arent doing anything at other schools...but its also an indictment of reds first year that he went with such a roster...talent identification is a key part of the job...

on the flip side...imagine they were all pouring in stats wth their new teams...how would that make red look?

the jury's still out on red, imo...and if these guys were all lighting it up this year...it would be a poor reflection on his coaching and long term potential

and i wnt red to succeed...hes likeable and a good person...so im happy the former players are struggling and showing that it was indeed a talent deficit last year and not a coaching issue

the PG is the problem...neither brown nor Q are PG

the frontcourt won both games and brown aint better than davis/eddie combo
Q would play some PG and some Point Forward. No point in dwelling on it, but I have no doubt he would have improved our PG situation. He can create for others, defend and score a little. Just needed to reel it in.

Q was a high major talent with a low major attitude. The reason he isn’t here is all on him. So sick of the crying about him.
Amazing this thread has gone on as long as it has. Not sure that people don't accept how much of a liability he was to the team.

He's at McNeese State. No other program wanted him.

I have only heard the stories about what went on behind the scenes, but I was really hoping that he'd be a charismatic 4 year player. I had visions of him trying to make plays that he shouldn't, driving the coaches nuts and us laughing it off as Q being Q.
Amen.

did people not watch the way he melted down at the end of the season on the court?

he had 6 turnovers in his last game for SU

had a lot of great moments and did a lot to help the team last year...was a very fun player to root for...but I think it became rather obvious he wasnt going to be the solution at PG

but ...all that said...I would take him in a heartbeat over Carlos

This is ignoring a lot of the reality of Q's attitude and his situation. With his talent he should be putting up triple doubles in the ACC, instead he is sitting the bench at McNeese St. Talent only takes you so far.

I’ll take Carlos over a bad lockerroom presence and someone who’s exhausting to attempt to coach.

FWIW, Taylor, Bennie and Carey not doing much with their respective teams either. But I think with the exception of Malik, it was addition by subtraction when these guys portaled
I would think, with no inside information, that building a cohesive team, is a top priority for Red.

Carlos appears to be a coachable kid who will not be a locker room problem. With his deficiencies, as long as he shows the effort to improve and gives his best, I'll take that. That's all we can ask of players with certain limitations.
