It's hard to imagine too many are thrilled with the program right now. You’ve talked to everyone?

IDK. To some it might be. Like letting the star student pick the teacher. Is it really worth it tho
It won't stay the same if he stays, people will cancel season tickets, not me been a fan too many years to stop now. Changing coaches now will at least show current ticket holders that the University understands the situation needs to change. Not the same thing. That’s one game. Will seasons spike? Will donations spike? I responded to a specific comment.
I may not be amongst the donors but I am friends with a lot of season ticket holders. People are unhappy with the direction of the football team. Only diehards care to spot out differences between g rob, hcss and dino at this pointYou’ve talked to everyone?
Thank you.The financial thing is a board urban legend up there with Chris Ashe. It just gets repeated in every thread.
I was told we sold the 2 ND games to MetLife for 10 million. What is the difference in dollars between having the game at the Dome at selling it to MetLife? We do make money from having the game at the Dome. i believe the decision to retain Dino has already been made. there are a number of factors involved. the buy out would just be one.

I’m sure you know there was a period of time under another AD, who spent like a drunken sailor and mismanaged everything, that we really struggled. Then we fixed that and we were doing pretty darn good…until last year when every school took a major hit due to covid and no fans. I don’t know whether the SUAD was in the black or red but the revenue was significantly less. Common sense says that and I did some rough math in another post. It wasn’t pennies.
They were spending an insane amount on COVID tests last year.
The guy before the last guy was as bad a hire as we ever could’ve pulled.
Bayside for clarity when you referenced the "financial thing ", was that in regards to the university and athletic department taking a hit during covid or there being a buyout? They were spending an insane amount on COVID tests last year.

I have enough money for a Porsche. Doesn't mean I can afford one.Is that really the ADs decision? People keep saying it's JWs decision but when big bucks are involved I would guarantee not. I think JW certainly has influence here but IF we do a buyout it's more than the buyout decision because you are also funding the new HC and staff. I would presume JW is organizing his thoughts for a discussion with the Chancellor and to offer a recommendation but also reflecting options and dollars relating to them. It's entirely plausible JW may want to move on but those who control the purse strings don't in this situation. There is allot to think about over the next week. I am sure something official will be made public soon one way or another.
Buyout. It was a board theory that’s treated as fact. Not sure anyone has verified buyout as a reason to keep Dino around.
Well, he did follow an AD who didn’t spend and did a lot of things that AD said couldn’t be done. A happy medium would have been niceI’m sure you know there was a period of time under another AD, who spent like a drunken sailor and mismanaged everything, that we really struggled. I am saying if they keep Dino attendance will crater. He has proven to be a mediocre head coach at best, and the majority of the fan base has no confidence in him.So you’re saying if SU changes coach’s attendance will spike?
False narrative?

University has to decide where this program is going or at least trying to go. We stink.
You're still upset over something that happened over 60 years ago? Wow - some people can hold a grudge forever.Don't like Notre Dame wish we could be the one school in the ACC who never plays them. After the 1961 fiasco we should have never played them again.
Thanks bees - as always, the voice of reason.I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know but that $30m is only part of the schools revenue stream in a fiscal year. Across the country colleges lost $2B of revenue due to covid last fiscal year. SU is no doubt part of that $2B. SU went all of last fiscal year (I think, but not sure, their fiscal year is June-June or July-July?) with no football or basketball attendance, parking, concessions, souvenirs, probably a drop in donations, etc. Sure, they did not have to pay staff at the games such as ushers but I’m going to give a rough estimate based on estimated numbers.
Using an average paid attendance of 30,000 for football and 20,000 for basketball. Using 6 football games and 19 basketball games. Using an average of $50 per person for tix, parking, concessions, etc (may be a bit low).
The result is a loss in revenue of $9m for football and $19m for basketball. That’s $28m total. Almost what the ACC gives us.
So while the ACC does give us $30m the total budget took a big hit last fiscal year and probably a small hit this year due to covid concerns. So it’s not like we are spilling over with cash and tough decisions have to be made on where to spend what we do have. And of course some of our fans are promoting reducing that revenue even further.
Peace
