Plumdumm really killed us inside tonight. If he didn't go nuts inside, then we would have handled Duke tonight.

This was Coleman's first poor game in awhile. Hopefully he will bounce back and show more as a rebounder / defender, because as you point out we're going to need more from him.

I thought Lydon did pretty well against Plumdumm. He held a few points back.

I don't know where this Duke team ranks. However, this was a game that I think most of us (myself very much included) predicted would be a loss. Getting the win makes the road to 9 or 10 wins that much more possible.

Your post is an understatement! I never imagined they would win at Cameron. No matter how you slice it winning at Cameron is huge in the selection committee's mind. We just need to get to 18 to 20 wins. 11 games to go and we need 6 to 7 wins in my estimation.

There were/are people on this board who had written the team off. It's BS. It's the middle of freekin January. I don't mind objective criticism but what we see on here is a lot of trash being spewn but I get it...this is how some people are wired, but man is it depressing.

A win at Cameron against any Duke team should be celebrated. It is so HARD to win there. There is no need to throw out the 'its their worst team in XX years' crap. It may or may not be true but why does a win against Duke need a qualifier? This matchup is quickly turning into a big rivalry and when you beat a rival you celebrate.

Some wonder about our ceiling. Roberson is playing like a man possessed...can he maintain this? Does he possibly have another level? Also, I think DC's transformation is going to continue and if it does then WATCH OUT because he could become a serious threat in the post. I am giddy thinking about the possibilities!

In terms of talent...this is probably the least Boeheim has ever had to work with.

2 McDonalds All-Americans, multiple top 40 recruits, over 8 years of college basketball experience in the backcourt alone, and every scholarship player was a top 100 recruit outside of Chinoso.

There's plenty to work with, if there wasn't we wouldn't have won yesterday. While it is a flawed team like many many people have said including JB, we can compete and beat anybody, but just as easy to lost to anybody if we're not hitting our shots or getting out rebounded by 20 in a game. Don't feel bad for JB, the cupboard isn't bare.

We're not some mid major knocking off a powerhouse. We're Syracuse, we should win games like this no matter where it's played. We can't spout out how we're an elite program and then act like we are David knocking off Golith when we take games like this and can't let garbage teams like La Tech, St Francis, St Bonaventures play us close and lose to St Johns two years in a row.

I was talking about us, but yes, Duke is very talented as well. They not play better than they have the past few years but the talent level is there.

well, um, when our HOF coach is cut off from the team for a month...

And, I believe the suspension was bad for all the coaches. Who is Hop's Hop? He didn't have a veteran coach at his side to assist. I think Hop will be a very good coach. This was not a true test, although he did reasonably well. And, he helped Howard gain some experience which has aided the depth of this team, albeit only slightly Go Cuse!

I respect your opinion but I do not agree with it. This has nothing to do with acting like a mid-major. It has to do with going into the house of one of the most polarizing basketball programs in college basketball and beating them in what is considered a down year for us. They are a blue blood. They have, many would argue, the greatest coach of all time. They have a sweat box of a gym which is one of the greatest home court advantages in all of college basketball. I know its hard for some to admit but Duke is on another level from Syracuse.

I'll throw in a story. One of my best friends attended North Carolina Law in the mid 90s. He has stated that as a fan/alumni there is/was no better feeling than going into Cameron and beating Duke. Whenever they beat Duke they partied well into the night. Now this is North Carolina we are talking about.
