Question would you take Marrone back as he is likely to get the axe in Buffalo

What sucks is that Shafer gives me no confidence he can do the job of SU head football coach really well, but the guy can not be removed from his job until the end of next year. Which sucks because we will have to go thru this for another year plus before we can get our next possible coach to rebuild the program.
Damn you Doug for costing us Steve Addaizo by leaving so soon.

Marrone wants to come back to SU about as much as SU wants to commit to a winning football program.

I've heard rumors that our current staff is one of the lowest paid in the ACC. Probably best that we keep them, and keep cashing the ACC TV checks.

SU might not win much, but we could run the most profitable program in the ACC. Do they give trophies for that?

In a heartbeat. Exact same words I was going with. Marrone had direction, lots of it.

No. He burned too many bridges. Plus it's obvious recruiting skill players wasn't his forte.

But he could recruit OL.

Give me a guy that can recruit OL's over a guy that can recruit WR's and RB's all day.

Of course, Marrone couldn't recruit a QB either, so there is that.

Marrone is probably the best this program can do at this point.

FHCDM would NEVER EVER come back here as long as D Gross is AD. NEVER EVER. And very unlikely even if D Gross is no longer here.

SUAD needs an overhaul first starting with the AD. Syverud needs to take action here immediately.

you could also look at it like he developed Nassib into the qb he is. He wasn't anything special his first year. And he did that with West, Gulley, Davis, Lynch, Crume, Reddish,Trudo, Foy, and Hickey all as Sophmores. Some how they all managed to get worse?

Crume has been a beast this year. By far the best DL.

I agree on the other players.

Coaching plain & simple. Unfortunately FHCDM is not the answer due to his lack of skill in recruiting. He never really understood that part and it was his biggest weakness.

Shafer is our Tim Brewster, the rah rah guy that willed his kids to a bowl game the first year, got all the recruitniks excited with bigger name commits than Minnesota was used to, only to have the bottom drop out after that. The Minnesota AD then went out and got a coach with lots of HC experience at lower levels and quickly rebounded.

I'd like to see us do the same. Get a head guy from an FCS school with a high-powered offense made for the Dome who doesn't have epilepsy. The guy coaching ODU would work for me.

Did anyone listen to Shafer's presser? Wow. That really didn't do it for me. Basically said it's just a game.

I was totally fine with Marrone's recruiting at the end. His last class was going to be really good. He had a plan and was laying roots. Plus I trust his talent evaluation, and development.

Wylder. Absolutely.

Ain't Brewster, he is Bill Stewart. Takes a talented team, does okay with it in the beginning and then the bottom starts to fall out.

Right on. Thought of him too but the second half of the WVU scenario didn't match my preferred course of action so I said "**k it!" and went with Brewster instead.
