Developing talent is just as important, if not more important then recruiting talent. Marrone and his staff proved they could do that. Our core guys who were Sophmores on his team have seemed to regress. That should be a huge alarm. I also think Marrone recruited much better then given credit for. What did people expect the first 2 years coming off a 2 win seasons? He had it going his last year before taking off. That was set to be a very good class, and the class before that was very good with three 4 star recruits (Morgan, Thompson, Broyld), and plenty of other major contributors (Parris, Whigham, Morris, McFarland, Lewis, Cornelius, Coleman, Zian-jones, not to mention Knapp). He gets a bad wrap for his inability to recruit. Maybe he didn't like it, and wasn't the most personable, but he had some good recruiters working for him, and we still got players. Most importantly he was good at identifying under rated talent. I trusted his evaluations completely. Losing is losing, but the point is we felt like we were much closer to getting to where they needed to be then we do now. It felt like we had a direction. This feels like we are wandering around in the dark.
