preseason rankings, returning experience, etc, make it easy to be bullish on the cuse this year. i don't think we are going to have any problem scoring. the issue is the frontcourt, and the issue is defense. what is the lineup, first and foremost. scoop, triche and joseph are virtually guaranteed 30 mins each, and probably with good reason. that leaves 20 minutes at the guard spot, which i think will be all dion, (for the record i also think dion will be the best defensive guard, if not this year but soon).
that leaves 90 unclaimed minutes, which is a huge question mark. who stands out? melo maybe 20 at center? moose, can he play the 4? i love cj fair on the offensive end, but can he play d and rebound out of the 3-4 wing spot defensively? is x-mas a contributor as a frosh? is southerland anything but a shooter?
i have a really hard time getting to excited without a better feel for the frontcourt, especially defensively.
