Especially since I am tired talking about the Fines.

- Defense was great the whole game. They hit some tough long 3's and our shots just weren't falling, otherwise we win easily.
- Scoop was great the 2nd half. Best he has played all year. Felt good for him. Him playing so well is the only reason we didn't see Dion much the 2nd half.
- Thought JB pulling Dion in the 2nd half wasn't warranted. He got mad at Dion cause a kid hit a ridiculous 3 on him. But Dion was in his grill with a hand in his face and the guy hit a fall back NBA 3. Jake and I couldn't believe JB was mad at him. Fortunately it worked out because Scoop was so great after that.
- Triche was solid the whole game. Went to the basket more than he usually does and thus was able to get to the line. 9-9, needed them. Florida was in a M2M until Triche went out in the first half, then they switched to zone.
- The white ref was a POS in the first half. Made a bunch of bad calls against us and when 1 of the other refs needed help on a call he would step in and make the wrong call. Guy sucked.
- Melo was great again especially on defense. Really learning to help out and takes up a lot of space. Hurt his foot in the 2nd half so it's good he was able to come back after a rest and a visit with the trainer.
- No time for MCW which we may see happen against the better teams. But he was always one of the first to jump off the bench when we made a good play or had a run and Florida would take a T.O.
- All 3 guards and Melo were great on defense.
- Joseph dribbles TOO MUCH. Not much good happens when he dribbles for more than 5 secs. Or when he starts to lose the ball and makes a pass to the knees of Keita.
- You don't realize Fair has so many rebounds until you see the box score. Just does things so quietly. Close to a double double.
- JS just take a step backwards against good teams. Shot seems more hurried and he was missing bad tonight. Can't handle the ball at all either. He'll look great Tuesday night but if he doesn't have a step up game against a good team soon, we'll see an 8 man rotation...again.
- Haven't seen TGD or the wee one at a game since the Fine stuff started.
- Great seeing Melo at the game. When do the Knicks start? I thought today was the opening of training camp.
- XMas started but didn't rotate on two straight possessions and took a seat the rest of the game.
- Fun win and JB was jacked on the sidelines the whole game. Was really in players faces like he hasn't been this year and was all over the refs. Had to be SEC refs. We did get some calls in the 2d half though.
- Finally, GREAT job by the students. A Friday night 7pm game has to be perfect for them. Happy hour, then the game, then back out. Good times. Wished there had been a few more thousand of the locals there.

Good summary.

Thought I saw TGD a couple seats away from Carmelo.

I agree but Dion was giving the kid 2 feet and only closed as the kid was going to shoot. This with the shot clock at about 3. Gotta get right in his grill.

TGD was definitely there and he was there with wife and kids for the EMU game...speaking of which I swore that was Rob Murphy sitting on the baseline too...

Ha, nice. Same thought!

Ahh, must have missed him. He makes him self very visible usually. Yes, Murph as there.

Just an observation from TV ... when he pulled Dion he went to explain to Dion what he did wrong. Dion bent over like he was tired and JB bent over with him and kept talking ... I didn't look like Dion was paying much attention.

He also was looking like a sour puss when he got pulled in the first half. I think JB was tired of playing games with him in the second half and the other 2 were playing well together.

That said, it was nice to see JB praise Dion in the presser, so I am sure it was more of just sitting him out this night. It looks like all 3 of them are going to alternate watching games end on the bench this year.

1. Agree on KJo's dribbling. He had one sequence in the second half where I think he went through his legs or crossed over 5+ times in a row. Amazingly it was the one time we scored when he was handling the ball up top.

2. BT & Scoop (primarily BT) did a fantastic job exploiting their size advantage on Erving. Even if it didn't always pan out it was nice to see them look to exploit that advantage. BT took him to the whole a few times and when the pass wasn't there he could easily shoot over him, and Scoop took him down and had a couple nice dishes. Great job by both of them today.

Anyone catch Julie Boeheim at the half? She went over talked to Bilas for a bit then walked away was obviously crying using a tissue on her eyes. Went over to Melo hugged him for a while started crying even more. Can't imagine any of this is easy on her.

I checked and EMU played at Colgate last night so I guess they have been in CNY for a few days which would explain why Murphy was there.

Surprised TGD didn't follow the orange chicks to Hawaii...

Dion had nothing to do with the lack of playing time. Who would YOU take out? Triche? Scoop? JB went with what was working.

Yep, that was a lay-up; the kid was able to set and shoot. Dion was close him, but it didn't affect the shot at all.

I agree that the only reason Dion sat was because Scoop was the hot hand tonight - that's how it'll go for the three guards, and that's a good thing for Syracuse. It did seem that Boeheim was hot after Dion went one-on-three and got a lay-up blocked, then did the same a couple possessions later and coughed it up.

Tremendous defensive performance by the whole bunch. Great to see.

Yeah, we've already seen the same thing happen to Scoop, and I'm quite sure it will happen to BT at some point. If two are playing well I don't see JB being afraid to keep one on the bench for an extended period for no other reason than the other two are just "on."

I saw her. I forgot that they played Colgate. Glad he showed up.

Big yes on both counts. Kris going between the legs is a surefire turnover; opponents read that one.

Both starting guards did an awesome job taking advantage of Erving. It was striking tonight, because that kid is tiny, but Triche has a similar advantage on a lot of opposing guards. Hope we see more of that going forward. Best game by the two of them in awhile.

Bilas commented on Kris handling it too much, too. Basically said he's great when he takes two dribbles to make a move, but is a risk when he tries to do any more. I agree with that entirely, and it's the biggest reason I question him as an NBA prosect.

I saw Julie at the half. My heart went out to her. It was a very tender moment between Carmelo & her.

Two things

1. So right about KJo. Dribbles WAAAAAY too much. Kills us sometimes

2. Juli started crying when she was informed that 690 is spoken for. Just sayin...

Her heart just goes out to that poor, tortured woman.

Completely agree with you guys on Joseph and his dribbling (or lack of). He just needs to pass it or make a move.

As far as Waiters being pulled - who did NOT think that a three was going to be jacked up in that situation? Dion should have been in his grill. I'm not worried though, Dion will learn from this. He will also learn from when he took it to the rim and three FLA players were there to block his shot. He can only get better as long as he is willing to learn.

Agree that white Ref was a tool of the devil. Absolutely out of his league, needs more time at a CYA gym. Like the foul call on Melo, he was in no position to see a foul.
I noticed (on tv) JB smiled a few times when I thought he was going to get in a players face.:noidea:
