No one ever says that they're leaving before it's public. Word would spread like wildfire, which is not how these transitions should occur.

I guess I disagree about telling them he wasn't leaving. What is he supposed to say if asked? If he said anything but "I'm not leaving", it would instantly be interpreted as he's leaving. Know what I mean?
