I agree with the order, but in terms of actual talent I think it actual goes:1. Jerome Smith
Pretty much by default. He had the best spring, good combination of both speed and power. Runs lower to the ground. Has had concussion problems, but has been healthy since late last season. Had a really nice game against Pitt to end the year. His position to lose.
2. Prince-Tyson Gulley
Missed most of last year after two non-football related injuries. Has looked shifty and quick in camp, looked good in the spring as well. Definitely has fumbling problems which will make Marrone think twice about playing him but he'll get time as a change of pace back. Catches well out of the backfield.
2a. Adonis Ameen Moore
Missed spring ball but lost quite a bit of weight. Should have been redshirted last year, looked terrible in game situations. Has been a very good power back in camp and definitely has the ability to convert from short yardage. Has looked quick for his size in camp videos on SUA. Potential to start if he didn't miss the spring with injury.
3. George Morris
Came into camp much smaller than his reported weight during his recruitment, but has a great frame for a RB. Fantastic combination of speed and elusiveness. Great football IQ, knows how to hit holes. Has been very good in camp and is definitely making the coaches have to think twice about a redshirt.
4. Devante McFarlane
Moved from Safety a few days ago. RB is the position he probably has the most potential at. We'll see what happens here
5. Steve Rene
Injured early in camp after getting leveled by Shamarko. Would be a good scatback/pass catcher out of the backfield. Initial prognosis was 3-5 weeks, might be back for the start of the season.
Great you just gave valuable info to northwestern.
nothing there their scouts shouldn't know already.Ha, thought the same thing. Good write up though, bnoro.
Personally in terms of talent I'd say Morris, Smith, AAM, McFarlane, Gulley. That list would also be a "most likely to be drafted" list.I agree with the order, but in terms of actual talent I think it actual goes:
1. Morris
2. MacFarlane
3. Gulley
4. AAM
5. Smith
I don't want that to be misinterpreted. I'm not saying Smith is the worst player. I just think in terms of overall talent the youngsters are the best we've got.
Great you just gave valuable info to northwestern.
Jokey joke. Smh.
Big difference between high school and Division 1 college football. AAM had a much better O-line than Smith did in HS. AAM has closed the gap a bit but Jerome will be the #1.For some reason i think its going to be AAM this year and the George Morris show next year. The footage I saw of AAM in high school and last year, even though he was chubby, was bit better than Smith.
From what I have seen so far:
Not sure that Smith or AAM really fit our system. I think both would be good choices this year as a #2 back or short yardage back, but not #1. PTG and Rene are more change of pace backs that you use in certain situations and packages. IMO Broyld and Morris are the best fits for what we want to run and also have the most ability. Morris I am not sure is ready to get carries quite yet. McFarlane has not been with the RBs yet. I would like to see Broyld get the bulk of the carries but I think we will see a three headed monster based on the situation of Smith, PTG, and Broyld.
Welcome to the board...how did you find us?Guys, I'm new to the board, so how about some of you with some insider information give us without a little insight on who is performing the best. Who gives us the best shot?

So they had 11 in the box with Jonny Miller playing QB? Come on.And Adonis had to go against way better defenses, not to mention almost 11 in the box for 4 years

If AAM gets it together he is our best back other than Morris. No doubt that AAM has more natural talent than Smith it isnt even close. Great vision, feet, power and pretty deceptive speed. The kid was all world in HS and he is a find. It is too bad he came in out of shape last year and even worse that his RS was blown. He is a back that needs the ball and one that will get better the more he has it. Great Fourth Q backSarcasm button wasn't available, but seriously it wasn't far off. I like Jonny, but you can ask him what the story was or look up the stats. And for 2 years Adonis didn't even play whole games until the state title games. If he would've, he would've broke every Colorado rb record. The only two players he didn't pass in yardage as far as big boy hs is concerned both play in the pro's. Lendale White( maybe not anymore) and Darnell McDonald for the Yanks (maybe not anymore)
Actually I've been lurking around here for a while, so I'm technically not "new" I've just never posted anything before. I remember when you guys left the sc@@t site a year or two ago. The reason I started this thread was because I honestly think we are 1 good back from being a very good team. I don't believe Marrone wants to have a running back by committee offense. We'll see what happens next week, Im very optimisticWelcome to the board...how did you find us?
