Carlos being capable is a completely separate argument from whether or not there are other candidates on this roster who can adequately play the PG position.

• JJ isn't a playmaker.
• Westry can't stay healthy and is totally unproven.
• Cuffe is a 5-11 shooting guard, who can handle but offers no playmaking.

So, "good lord?" Try being realistic about the players' capabilities.

No argument from me that it is a sorry state of affairs that the roster as constructed requires a subpar player like Carlos to play 37 minutes per game.

But in your zeal to prove one point, you are missing out on another , and then getting salty when people point to it indicating why they don't agree with your suggestion.

[1] Carlos isn't an ACC caliber PG. Your point -- true.

[2] But there also isn't anybody else on the roster who can play the position adequately, either -- no matter what some would like to pretend. Also true.

1 + 2 = bad situation that can't be resolved by playing guys out of positions, and asking them to do things that they aren't able to do.

I honestly thought you meant it because I really don’t think there is another even average ball handler on the team. By no means am I saying that Carlos is Jason Kidd. But I think he is a more than decent ball handler with a good assist to turnover ratio who,unfortunately, can’t shoot, finish at the rim against good teams, or defend very well. We are one big dilemma this year.

And that also points out why Red needs to go, this is the player he brought in to run the show. Plus he also paid for a center who can only play the position on offense and only for part of the game.

I've been trying not to pile on too much after that Maryland debacle.

Something I don't think I've seen discussed nearly as much as I thought was the starting lineup - it was wrong. It wasn't the 5 guys he wanted to start. How good is his communication, if the right 5 guys don't know they are starting?

What if Red is fired. Melos kid goes to USC, the 5 star bolts, Donnie and Choppa transfer, and Melo closes the door on Syracuse because he no longer has any connections?

I see your point but Personally I lean towards giving Red one more year in order to Keep Melo and all he brings .

Nope. He seems barely a coach at all.

Kyle has an Assist to Turnover ratio of 1:2. Carlos has been god awful but Cuffe has neither playmaking ability nor the ability to initiate the offense. He’s a 2/3 hybrid that’s 6 inches too short.

His stats are kind if meaningless because he's only played more than 2 to 4 minutes in 3 games out of 11, and his top minutes were 12, I think, in his last game. Let a guy get some run and get into the flow of the game before you judge so harshly. He averaged 1 turnover per 21 minutes of floor time last year, when he played more.

That's precisely where I am. Often when I bring up Cuffe, the argument is looking at his stats in very limited play. Carlos has gotten a TON of time on the court to show the player he is. I'd love to see Kyle with the same opportunity and confidence behind him. I just don't think it could be any worse than what we're seeing now, and the upside is far greater in my opinion.
