Mavericks have waived Rautins. The NY Post article didn't indicate what his future options might be. This might give him an option to go with a club where he has a chance of making the roster.

I'm just not sure he'll ever be strong enough to play at this level. Atleast he cashed some NBA paper. No one in their right mind ever expected this kid to play NBA ball. Not even sure what the Knicks were doing drafting him, tbh. Zero upside pick.

Andy Rautins is the only one star high school recruit I can think of that made the NBA. That's incredibly impressive in of itself.

Disappointed he's never been given anything close to a legit shot.
????????

he spent the ENTIRE year with the Knicks. he wasnt cut or D-leagued.

he practiced, traveled and sometimes played...with the NEW YORK KNICKERBOCKERS ALL YEAR.

id say that was a pretty LONG legit shot.

Who exactly was he going to play over? Sit Chauncey down so Rautins can learn on the fly? He's not Kyrie Irving...he's Andy Rautins.

Nate Robinson was 2 star.

Last year will probably be the greatest year of his life, doubt he'll ever stick with another nba team for an entire year. It might be doubtful he even makes another nba team.

He played for 4 minutes all season.

I don't expect him to start. But would have been nice to see him get a couple dozen games, maybe 50-60 total miutes over the course of the season to at least show a little of what he can (or possibly cannot) do at this level.

Toronto might want to take a shot with him. His dad is big there, his family has roots there and he would have the whole Canadian thing going for him. I am hoping he ends up there.

...quick..name 3 guards on Toronto...ok, here they are...
Barbosa SG $7.6m
Bayless PG $ 3.1m
Butler SG $ .211m
Calderon PG $ 9.7m
Carter PG $ .86
DeRozan SG $ 2.6m

Seems to me that Andy will get a shot here...

Andy will have a very solid career in Europe.

and I mean that with the utmost sincerity.

He played in 5 games last year, averaging 4.8 minutes per game, and if you actually watched him you saw a player who was in way over his head. Not a slight, just a fact.
It's great that he got to tag along with the Knicks for the year and we got to say Syracuse had another alum in the NBA but it would be surprising if he ever saw another minute in the league.

They practice a lot. He played summer league, I believe. If he was playing better than the guys ahead of him, he would've gotten some run.

Wasn't he hurt last year too?

I don't remember him being hurt for any extended period of time, though I could be wrong. He was inactive a lot, because he wasn't gonna play.

Get a shot at holding their bags?? a shot at what?

Agreed...he's better off getting real time action in Europe than letting his game rust playing 12 total minutes over 66 games. At least if he does well there he has a chance, small as it is, of being noticed and getting a real NBA job. He's not getting that as the 13th man on a 12 man bench in the NBA.

Ummm, does his last name start with B, C or D? Not likely then.

I know it's theoretical, but I wouldn't see him playing over anyone but Butler (maybe) or Carter...and that still puts him behind 2 SG's and 2 PG's.

end of story.

and if he had any worth, he be playing now.

he was thrown a HUGE solid from his dads teammate.

Oh Lord
