This is exactly what my issue with them is. Look at the access Rahme was given because he wasn't into "shock" reporting. As a reader i'd much rather have that, then what we are getting now.

Man, those were the days. LOVED the pieces he did about the game plan and how it ended up working or not working. Rahme would usually drop them the Sunday or Monday after the game.

OK so I just went back and read it and I don't see anything that says Robert is definitely committing to Syracuse on Saturday. What am I missing?

"I don't think Syracuse fans have to worry about Robert," Washington Sr. said. "That's my opinion."

Washington Sr., who repeated his message toward the Syracuse fans later in the interview, said that the Orange coaching staff has been in "constant communication" with both of the Washingtons. He views SU running backs coach DeAndre Smith "like my second brother."

The SU coaches have been communicating primarily over the phone, but Smith will be heading down for a visit on May 28, Washington Sr. said.

"A lot of it is just the feeling, but at the end of the day (Robert's) been talking a lot with the Syracuse coaches," Washington Sr. said, "building that relationship the way it needs to be built."

Washington Sr. also spoke highly of TCU's Curtis Luper and Michigan's Tyrone Wheatley and described his role of vetting positional coaches like "auditioning for your son's father for the next four or five years."

However, Washington Sr. made it clear that he isn't the one making the choice on Saturday. Robert Washington told Bleacher Report last week that he's already made up his mind.

"At the end of the day, it's his decision and he's got to make it for himself," Washington Sr. said.

Bailey did absolutely nothing wrong.

Sure, but what he just posted didn't need to be posted. Let the dad have the final say. This is his way of saying "I got the last word". Jeebus, just stop already Bailey.

I would not be surprised if the announcement gets pushed back now.

It needed to be posted because people were jumping down his throat about it.

Ha, Bailey had to defend himself. I'm sure he's getting tons of messages like those in this thread from people who think he made it all up. I don't see anything wrong with releasing what happened.

Yeah that's a great example, what Rahme was able to produce vs what is being produced now is night and day. This isn't about ragging on journalism in general, which seems to be the regular response to any criticism of the PS. It's about a product we used to have that is now gone.

Rahme was s good reporter, but he wasn't good with following recruiting. Either was Donnie Webb.

If he costs us Washington because of this. He needs to be fired and run out of town.

He should have taken it down.

Easy to see what's happening here. Washington has known for some time where he wants to commit. His dad tells an SU reporter that SU fans shouldn't worry. Son gets mad at dad because he wants to make an announcement. Dad wants story removed.

Bailey is a solid reporter.

I wonder if UF or TCU have 68 pages and 2364 posts about this subject. Maybe we should all just step back from the ledge.

I think what we should be focusing on here is the fact that the coaches are doing everything they can to make this happen, "constant contact" and Smith being "like a second brother" shows that they are working to the best of their ability at this juncture. This is a nice development from what we were hearing a few weeks ago and its pretty much all they can do right now to try and make this happen so kudos to the staff! If RW goes elsewhere it was not for a lack of effort, which is something I could live with. That said, lets get this done and close hard!

RW Sr. Just needs to write bailey back and say: "I don't truthfully know where my son has decided to commit therefore I don't feel the quotes I made stating my opinion while reported correctly are necessarily factual. Out of respect for you, my son, my son's decision, the Syracuse community, and the other schools that have offered him this great opportunity, I would like to request you take down the story, to assure the factual story regarding his commitment is provided on Saturday at 3pm. I will gladly offer you an extended interview on Saturday evening regardless of the outcome."

Bailey's line understandably is factuality if RW Sr doesn't officially know where he's going both parties can walk away without losing face.

Nope - cusefan80
Hey speaking of commenters I saw one person in the new article say he would do the standard hat dance ... I really hope RW doesn't do the hat dance, I think he's better than the dance given everything I've read and listened to. Whether its for us or not I have lot of respect for the players that choose the hat solid and don't play around. I think Shafer told all his commits last cycle not to hat dance which I think is a true sign of class for this coaching staff and the players we signed.

If somehow that were the case, the PS/Syr.com would probably LOVE this kind of attention. He'd get a promotion.

RW Sr. didn't deny the quotes.

He just spoke too soon.

Another Cuse prediction on 247! They've been rolling in the last 24 hours!

I know what CL said about predictions being wrong a lot, which is true because no one is perfect at these things.
Especially seeing all the kids the last couple years that we got that were predicted to other schools. However, I think these recruiting analysts are starting to give our staff some credit on the recruiting trail, ad in this case I think they're right.

Obviously it would suck to be the bridesmaid instead of the bride again with a top prospect, but our coaches have shown (despite what some posters believe) that they can recruit against the big boys.

I've been saying it for a while now, I think RW is all Orange! I just want to advise again, everyone needs to take a deep breath and realize that this is just a kid if we dont get him.

Let's keep the meltdown to a minimum. I'm more worried about Twitter in this regard.

Lets Go Orange! #Restore44

I wouldn't necessarily say that they play a low level of football. Because they are a Christian school they are relegated to play other Christian or Day schools and not public programs... no different than ECU where Isaiah Johnson came from. Plus this is the south, Christian and Day schools are everywhere. Doesn't mean their FB programs aren't as strong as the public ones.

I lived in Charlotte for close to a decade. They play some of the smaller christian and day schools int he area. The big ones in Charlotte are Charlotte Catholic, Charlotte Country Day, and Charlotte Latin. Those three play a 4A schedule rather than 2A. I'm not saying great players can't come from small schools at all, look at Mike Hart. I just don't want this board to go into full meltdown mode if we don't get him. I think he can be great, but I also think that there are a few others on our recruiting board who would be excellent consolations prizes.

I don't think sr spoke to soon. He gave his opinion that things were ok with cuse. I'm sure he has read the comments on line about people saying cuse doesn't have a chance and all he said was don't worry you have a chance. The way everyone else took it wAs don't worry he is yours. He never said that Bailey never wrote that. Jr probably got phone calls from other coaches or friends saying your dad said this? And he got mad and went back to dad. Dad doesnt want to hurt jr in any way so he asks for it to be taken down... Which by that point wS too late. It was everywhere by then. I don't think dad said anything wrong he just gave his opinion. It s what is written people are just hearing what they want.

He has run a 4.47 laser at 2 camps and has been hand timed at a college camp at 4.41 he has the speed

I'm nout doubting that at all. But those can be cheated, especially if he's been coached up. Laser time is hand start laser finish, which can be anywhere from a tenth to almost 2 tenths off of pure electronic timing. These kids can shoot the hand through, rock the start, etc. I work out at a place that trains players for the combines and there are definitely some games being played.

That being said, the point of my initial post is that I think he can be great. I like his film and would love, love to have him in Orange. However, I get queasy when people say this player or that player is a "must get." I think we have some excellent options out there (I love Tyler Thompson's film too) and Washington isn't going to make or break this program. We've seen it all from Ishaq to Lavar Lobdell. Offers and stars aren't all of it. Kids can make themselves great, just as your son is trying to do by getting his ass to the gym at 5 AM.

It's a major jump to the next level. Some kids have no problem adjusting to playing the game where every kid is as big, strong, and fast as you are. Some never adjust. I think Washington can absolutely do it, but he, like every other player to sign a LOI is no sure thing.
