maybe I am The only one on this forum super high on JJ Johnson.I'd prefer we had Nixon back but oh well. I'm not sure what we have as far as a pass catching RB right now and think Nixon may have been our best bet as a 3rd down back this season. But I agree in that I didn't want him as RB1. Ahmad Miller only had 3 receptions in a full 2025 season so he is not likely much of a 3rd down back. A 3rd down option could be Ju'juan Johnson as he had 41 rushes and 17 receptions last year. But his receptions totaled just 72 yds for an average of 4.2 yds/rec. And his per carry average was just 3.8 yds. I'm just not sure he is a true RB and I see him more as an athlete. I don't expect too much from him. Maybe the hope with him is he just needs a bit more time at the position as he was a QB previously but he switched to RB in the beginning of the 2024 season, so that is almost 2 full years already. No idea how he is at protecting the QB but I think we are weak regarding having a 3rd down back. He could be good for a couple trick RB passes as he was a very good QB.
I don't expect too much of Malachi Coleman yet and he is still just 190 lbs as of last years roster, so probably not much of a blitz pick-up guy but may be a solid receiver out of the back field. Tylik Hill did have 16 receptions for 104 yds his senior year in HS. That coupled with his higher upside running the ball as a natural RB, i see him fighting for RB1 carries with Ahmad Miller and getting a bulk of the 3rd down reps. He looked the part last year in limited snaps and his senior year of HS he ran for 2,372 yds at 7.5 per carry. I think those two share most of the snaps.
