The stance that JB has taken leads me to believe he would be toast. If these allegations pan out, he's spent the past 48 hours attacking sex abuse victims. Hard to recover from that.

Agreed. It's not the defense of a molester (if proven true, which is still in doubt) that will make him toast (assuming he truly had no foreknowledge of this), but his attack on the victims.

Too many eyes around to see what? If the kid did live with Bernie and was similar to a foster child type, why would anybody feel that it was strange that the kid went on road trips, slept in his hotel room, etc?

Personally, I would hope everyone including the university would wait until the entire investigation is complete before making any drastic decisions.

If another accuser comes out, I do not see any reason to scorch the earth or fire everyone until a complete investigation is done into the accusations. Just think if someone had a beef with SU or Fine and came out and made a false accusation that would be tough to disprove. That person could bring the program down if everyone lets their emotions get ahead of the facts.

I find it difficult to believe the accusations at present but I'm waiting for the investigation to be completed before jumping to any conclusions. Bernie deserves the benefit of the doubt and the presumption of innocence. But if the accusations turn out to be true, this board and all of Syracuse will turn against him in a second.

It's tough to be patient since this case has many of us on pins and needles. However, we have no choice but to be patient and let the case play out.

Davis said Bernie molested him "every day for 12 years." Someone would have seen something. The odds are just too great.

I don't entirely agree with this. I mean, the foster family thing is great when it works but it's an entirely flawed system and has been for decades. Outside of that, though, you can still help and take an interest in kids that need/want help but do so without taking liberties. I mean, you can help a kid without inviting him/her over to your house unsupervised for hours at a time. Or taking him/her on road trips, etc.

I get what you're saying but I think ultimately it's not so terrible that people are getting stricter all the time about adults interacting with kids -- particularly considering the life-long ramifications for the abused.
